Bend the harness out towards the back of the car a little bit, this then helps you remove it once you've taken the metal clip back, it'll then just slide out diagonally backwards and leftwards with a small tug. If that makes sense

Brain surgery?
My god what a long thread for such a simple task
If you cut the cable ties holding the loom in place it will give you a bit of slack, then pull the retaining clip towards you. This should lever the left side of the plug out and you then keep pulling it in the same direction because the right side has a hook that engages the ecu when re-fitting to stop you bending all the pins. The screw is just to hold the plug casing together so leave that in.
Take the plastic pins out of the glovebox straps so it drop right down for a bit more room if you want to remove it completly.
