Really pleased with myself at moment.
we took a look at our e30 1989 to get ready for mot and found that a big fat tin worm had eaten the best part of the rear offside wheel arch. the cheeky blighter had even started to eat the fuel filler neck as well. i then went to find a suitable looking brave welder and met with a few that just shook their heads and said i think that its about time it went to sleep. I even got as far as advertising it on here for parts. several phone calls texts messages and offers of what seemed a little bit of money resulted in me deciding to take for mot. Guess what the only thing it failed on yes you have got it. corrosion to rear wheel arch only. another trip around all the local metal mechanics found a really nice guy in stalybridge that was willing to take on this transplantation. did tell me that it would not be cheap but was actually willing and confident enough to repair all this mess (and believe me it was a mess) in for 4 days i sat waiting for the phone call to say that the worst had happened. nails bitten down to the elbows pacing up and down and then it came Hey up Chris your cars done and ive had it retested for you as well.
I looked at it and what a fantastic job this lad has done for me completeley rebuilt the inner arch on drivers side and done some preventitive work on passenger side all resealed and a new fuel filler neck installed. ( no unpleasant fuel smells now as i have been having for some time) I wont let you know how much it cost but i could have sold it for bits for about the same. however she is out of danger now and looking for a good Diff to stop her whining at me. just goes to show some garages dont want to take on some jobs and could have lost me my faithful freind. anyone got a good diff they could sell to me i would even get my wife to wrap it up in xmas paper for me. :) :) :) :)

The lovely thing about metal its always repairable and finding someone with patience and skill to do a proper job is the hardest part. Well done 8)

bodge-artists note a repair does not have to involve filler, foam, beer mats or tea towels :x
