The only problem is Steve is that there is no-one that covers me when I'm off which means that I then have to spend more time catching up (read 12 hour shifts) and I've got a week away on a course at the beginning of Dec too which is another week worth of catching up.
At least the overtime is handy for next years track fund/projects. You need a croft date for next year too (although they are like hens teeth at the mo).

Any chance i could pop along and spectate???
Yep, all spectators welcome.
Chris - hope your job has some big upsides cos from what I've heard so far I'm not sure I'd fancy it!
We have already tried for Coft and been given a "no chance" answer. Bloody nimbys

Shame about Croft, but at least I should get to attend at least one day there next year so all is not lost.StevePH wrote:Yep, all spectators welcome.

As for the job, its close to home, I can turn/mill & surface grind pretty much anything I need to for the car and pays quite well.
Many a time I have been in there on a Sunday evening drilling snapped bleed nipples out of brake calipers or grinding clearance onto diff spider gears etc.
It could be a lot worse.
Thanks!! I'll definately be taking you up on that offer!stoneyV6 wrote:You might be right Steve![]()
Ye come over and take a look furbster and if there is anything you want to know about the build ask away,, your welcome to a few passenger laps if you want.
You're the first person I know of that is a track day regular that's done the conversion.... my main worry is messing up the handling with the additional weight but looks to me like you've gone down the M52 route?
I shall definately come find you this time.

M52 2.8 motor and the car is now 20kg lighter than with the old 325 engine,, better still its all off the front axle.
This engine has more bhp and more torque and as said worked out to be 20kg lighter plus with the E36 box its lower geared and i hope it will be just about spot on for track work.
oulton will be the acid test so to speak.

Yeah, how did it go?
I managed to do another 4 hours overtime this afternoon, and made didn't make a single mistake despite constantly visualising my way up the hill and under the bridge heading towards Druids.

It was a good day but boy was it slippery,, druids is bad enough in the wet but then someone decided to drop the contents of their sump all over it and it turned into an ice rink,, good fun though.
All the oil made a nice rainbow but i am guessing that instead of a pot of gold at the end there would have been a Renault,,,,,, again.

I never seen any of the E30s go of tbh but plenty of cars did go grass tracking, a MK1 clio had a hefty whack into the barriers.
I followed a silver E30 having a nice drift round druids but it was well held and a mate followed furbster and said he was sideways a few times.
I have a bit of in car footage to post later, i was just pleased the new motor ran perfectly and is a nice improvement over the 325 engine i had.
A good day i though and a well run event.
Well we had a pretty slippery day at Oulton on Friday but I guess that was to be expected in November! Greasy in the morning followed by a dry line after lunch and then it rained to give us a proper wet track!
Here’s a few of the shots from the day -

Very pleased to see that despite the conditions and having a few red flags along the way that everyone seemed to have a good time and we managed to keep up our main aims of good behaviour on track and little or no queues to get on there. Big thanks to all the drivers that came along and made it such a good day, hopefully we’ll see you all at some more events next year!

As Stoney said.... verrrry slippery!!
Stoney - sorry I didn't catch ya when I left, my co pilot was in a bit of a rush!!
Shame I never got a chance to come out for a few laps as well, I did laugh at the massive slide you had when you were a couple of cars behind me....... I was watching in my rear view mirror as just saw you go from one side of the rear to the other completely sideways..... nice catch and nice driving mate!!!
Thanks again to Steve and Phil from Trackaction Online.... another well organised, fun day out!!!
Does anybody know who the guy with the M3 E30 that was basically a touring car without any stickers?????? Seriously nice car!!

I know him, I work for him as an instructor at Driveme.net. It's a top car, built from the ground up with some very tasty bits and a sequential box that makes the quaiffe in my Westfield seem like something out of the arc!
You're a sick man

I meant to have a wonder over to your garage and see if you wanted a couple of laps in the car to see how the 2.8 motor feels, but once the flag drops i am either driving or talking and before i knew it the day was over.furbster wrote:Shame I never got a chance to come out for a few laps as well, I did laugh at the massive slide you had when you were a couple of cars behind me....... If that was the big tank slapping slide in the last session then its StevePHs fault for picking on me in that damn pesky pug, next dry day and the bimmer will have its revenge.
Looking forward to the next trackday already.
Still can't stay with the pug
