Hi Everyone,

im new to this forum, just picked up a 91' 320i touring. picked it up with a charging fault. so...Changed the Altenator (with reconditioned BMW one). battery light etc all went out. then changed the battery (spanking new bosch), been a day now without losing charge. but i cannot check till thurs with a meter to check everything is ok.

i've done a search on this before, the boot light does not stay on, torch is not on nor glovebox light.

so, the only question is, which i could not find during the search is,

other than the actual alternator wire connection to the battery, is there anything else for me to check? that wouldnt immediately be obvious?

as i say, everything looks ok and fixed, but just want to check if there is anything else which i should check. (bypassed the old alarm it came with too)

thanks guys!

turned out to be a bad earth, some reason the earth was shot the alternator. done some re-earthing and now getting 14.4v out the alternator, and 13.8v at the battery. (was 14.4v alternator, 12.7 @ battery before re-earthing) so problem solved
