Hi guys its me again, still stuck on my m50 wiring, i bought an engine with no loom and i bought a modified loom from Danthe but a lot of the plugs fit on different sensors and i'm finding it hard to tell from length which one goes where, can anyone point me in the direction of a sensor layout diagram and colour of corresponding wires on the plugs, i also have one blue and 2 black wires with metal loops that i can't figure out, got so fed up trying to guess what goes where that i havn't touched the old girl for about a year

One of the black ones near the diag plug will be a ground, one of them if you trace it back to the main mass of sphagetti you might find turns red and joins with lots of other red stuff - this one goes to the battery connection. Then there'll be another thicker battery connection to go from the battery to the starter, I took that one out and used the e30 one as it was a better fit.

HTH!

All earths (grounds) on BMWs are plain brown, or, in the case of some engine loom earths, brown/orange. Black is a live colour.
Note that some coloured wires have an outside black sheath.
The two engine loom wiring diagrams here should help: http://www.autolib.diakom.ru/CAR/BMW/19 ... 0DIAGRAMS/

The only plug/connector near the diag socket on this loom is the C101

See, this is what happens when you have years in-between taking things apart and putting them back together again :)

Is this a different engine now mate?

I was talking about the thick ones to metal loops, but since you made the loom I'll bow to you on this one mate!

Yeah I know which ones you meant 8) , loom will look similar to this which doesnt really resemble much of an E36 loom anymore!
