Shame that pic isnt a video :p
Ah yeah, but out of the box an SV is much more brutal and ultimately what you want from a car like that.... well at least me anyway!winx wrote:Give me 6 months and you will eat your wordsDave_M3 wrote:

M42 rightness above 6500rpm, nobody can hear you scream
I nicked the photo from Pistonheads, I didn't take it and I wasn't there, so no video possible unfortunately!
I've driven several supercars including an identical Murcielago SV at Thruxton, (experience day) and I can say that if I had the money to buy one I would never step foot in an E30 ever again, it was utterly fantastic, the best car I've driven so far!
It is certainly true that the driver has a lot to do with lap times.
At Brands Hatch I passed a Porsche 911 (996) Carrera and an Aston Martin DB7 in my E30 M30 turbo, but I still had to work hard to keep a total hero in a standard looking Renault Megane behind me!
I don't mind admitting that, although I don't think I'm too bad, I have a LOT to learn about track driving!
It's easy to think that you're a mega fast driver, until your first track day!

Just clocked this thread, it was me in the E30, standard 318is with coilovers (and no drivers side front wishbone rear bush, it collapsed). Just exiting the pitlane in the photo, that's why the car is on the inside. Yup, the Lambo was hugely fast in a straight line, but not trying in the corners. (And if it was my car I don't think I'd be pushing it too much through the corners either). He let me past after a few laps but no, that doesn't mean that now officially E30s eat Lambos for breakfast
.
For sale - E30 320i racer project - sold.
Yes it does!
So it's official, a 318IS dusted a Lambo Murcielago!
The guy said on Pistonheads that he was hitting 150-160mph on the straight!
I posted the pic on the off chance that the E30 owner would be a 'Zoner.
Glad you found it and I hope you like it!

I'm not sure if yu have to be registered on Pistonheads or not (it's free if you're not) but here's the link.

Having been very very lucky enough to have driven many high end sports cars around a track( I instuct at the track in Bahrain along with another zoner called flying Farrier) I can also say the Lambo's are brutally quick, but then again so is just about every other fast car you can mention, there is little to choose between them except for different noises.
As for supercar killing in an E30 you can simply forget it on a track that has any long straight, even a poor driver can go fast in a straight line, but things get more interesting when you are on a twisty track. We had one lad who used to attend many track days in his more door 325, with coil overs, EBC/AN Other brand brake pads, and everything taken out that was not required, thus a lightened E30. He would uspet many faster cars on our inner circuit at the BIC, including some exotics...but he was a very good driver, and they were not ( many i instructed so i know!!).
At the end of the day even an average Joe can get a supercar round a track faster than most "average" saloons as modern supercars are so technologically advanced that the driving element is down to point steering wheel, push throttle and brake where required, if anyone has driven the 991 Porsche you will know this....very fast, very easy to drive, but very boring.
Would I have one? Oh YES...woudl i have one over my E30..OH YES...but if i could afford a supercar i can also afford an E30 so have both!
for the record my lap time round the BIC in the E30 is 3:10, in a McLaren MP4...2:19...lap record by Mr Schumacher in 2004 of 1:30...you do the maths!
Fastest car i have ever driven round the track.....sad to day a Corvette ZR1 as i hate Yank cars...but it was very quick

Interesting - it goes to show how much quicker an F1 car is than any supposed 'supercar'.
Wonder how long it would take my Morris Traveller to trundle around it, on its doorhandles?
