front wheel bearing help

hi guys,ive ot excess play in both front wheels on my 325,kwikfit quoted me 125 each side to fit new wheel bearings,is this a decent price and is ita big job?thanks

wheel off.
caliper off
disk off
now ure looking at the bearing.
the center has a cap posibly, ping this off
there is a large nut on the bearing . loosen this off totally
u need a slide hammer. if u dont have one then its gonna be drama
bolt the slide hammer to 2 opposing wheel nut holes on the bearing
bang the bearing off.
torque set 215lbs
put the new one on and replace it all as u took it off
We did this , it took 30 minutes from start to finish, both sides
of course this is a very sketchy recollection of the procedure and by no means do i recomend u do this in the method i have described

haha,fair enuff mate,kwik shit estimate 2 1/2 hours each side!!!ill try local garage.
You've obviously spoke to an unexperienced person. The reason they're saying that is b'cos they're probably thinking they're pressed in which may take that long. Kwik fit say that amount of time so you leave the car there to get other jobs done aswell as yours. thanks jonbuoy,as i say will try a local garage,let u now how i get on.
The bearings are Ԛ£40 from EPC. The centre nut is done up to about a million lb ft, I had to ring a dealer I thought it was soo tight, and yes they are supposed to be that tight, way off the scale of even my largest torque wrench. You'll need a 32mm socket I think and a scaffolding tube. The bearing then should slide off with some gentle pursusasion. It is not easy but it is very straight forward, if yours hasn't been done by bmw last like mine the nut probably won't be that tight.
