You need to be careful, as there are several different types of ECU with these - 402, 403, 405, etc.
I can supply one for the M50B25 non-VANOS with 405 ECU for £30 posted.

Cheers mate, i beleive mine is a non-vanos engine. I will check the ecu numbers tomorrow and pm you or post here. Does your chip rise the rev limiter to 7000rpm?Also are the chips in these ecu the type that just plugs in on pins or does it require soldering in? And what payment methods do you take mate?Speedtouch wrote:You need to be careful, as there are several different types of ECU with these - 402, 403, 405, etc.

Hi,
Yes the chip raises the rev limit to around 7000rpm, and they plug in - no soldering required. I accept Paypal/postal order/cheque.
Thanks,

but the chip won't work very well! He's got a 413 ecu for a vanos m50. The 405 chip is for a non vanos motor!320ise wrote:go for the speedtouch one bud! mine came well fast and had some problems (with my car not the chips fault) and speedtouch has been great a propper credit to the zone i should have the chip up and running in my correct ecu by the end of this wkend so ill let you all know how i go.

i dont want to put you off as it mite have just been my car, but the chip i bought my car with was a pro perfomance one. if am honest there were really good gains and car feels allot slower and less responsive without it but the problem i had with it was when you wanna give some abuse it felt great and pulled smooth etc, but i do a 50 mile work trip and as sad as i am i do 60ish on the inside lane to keep fuel costs down and the car with the chip in used to develop a really big flatspot or delay and you would get no throttle response for like a second, so after running for a bit a 60 then hitting traffic i was horrible to drive then in 1st and 2nd because of the delay just off idle. after turning the car off and restart a few minutes later it was fine untill crusing under light throttle again!
i have also noticed since going to the bmw map an increase in fuel consumption i was more economical and faster with the chip but the fault was that bad in traffic i would rather it be slower and smoother to drive even though it does drink more now!
the speedtouch chip should be great though cant wait to get it going!

You might of got a dodgy chip by the sound of it mate or the wrong one.
The car its going in is a drift toy that is going to take plenty of stick so im not too fussed about it i just need more power
Bmw's usualy respond very well to ecu upgrades from my experience.
Speedtouch, no probs mate, i havent contacted anyone about it, can ant help do you think?

I doubt the gains are as good as he claims, but for £30 odd quid i had improved low down torque, pulled noticably harder to red line and made it quicker so i'am happy, also rev limit is 7250rpm (just off the clock
)

Alas, the pre-'88 chromey 6-pots, 320i and 323i use analogue L-Jetronic, which is not chippable like the later facelift Motronic cars.bobcat wrote:hey speedtouch ,probably a dumb question but do you have a chip for a 84 323 or are they too early?
cheers
