start saving.... pair of cams cost about $900

Could try giving fritzbits a ring.... they might have a cheaper alternative < i don't have there contact details, but they are down in Somerset i believe.

Have you looked at this place?

Some head work and new cams is Ԛ£850 fitted. Never used them but have heard the company mentioned in the past.

I don't see what you could acheive with the IS without raising the rev limit. The std cam must already by quite lively seeing how it only comes alive at 3500rpm anyway. I could be wrong though, but I'd always do headwork over cam swaps.

hi all, i've already had a viper2 chip on the car which ups the rev limiter a little bit but i do think i would be wiser spending money on head work instead, didnt realise cams were so expensive. im gonna be taking the iS off the road next week when, and please don't laugh, i collect my new purchase an xr2i. i know its a ford but wanted to get a car to use so i could work on my bm without having to get the bus to work if its still on ramps/ engine in pieces on a monday morning! when i get a respray i was gonna use the excuse of while the engine was out id pull the head off it, lol, and get it ported.
