Normal key with light, but also a magnetic key on most cabs.
I think the later Motorsports cabs didnt have them. My cabs have the extra key.
If its Sebring/Macau originally they had this extra lock. Some poeple have them blanked.
Because its useless as as a security device. Its not recognised as anything with insurance companies!.
In fact they get very confused.
When inserted, it lights up a led on the drivers door and on the panel below the number plate.
The magnetic key loses its magnatism, as it sticks to your other keys!.
And the magnets can be moved on the key, to make the key useless.
Cheers Gareth.

ha ha thanks guys, I will ignore the alarm system then as I also heard from the bloke I'm buying from that it was RUBBISH! He doesn't have any torch keys, just copies I think, so I'll probably get one from the stealers and have nice new pair of torch keys
Here are the pics, although I will do it properly when I actually have the car. At the moment it's waiting to be picked up. I'm sure many people have seen this advert :it used to belong to someone on the zone, so there should be a bit known about it:

I went to see that M'sport William, about a month ago. It was the 1st one I saw so wasn't sure about what condition I should expect? Overall its pretty good innit? And of course a rare manual. The colour is something else, I love both the blue's.
What plans have you got for it? The rear-ash tray needed looking at didn't it, and the rims seemed a little curbed innit?
Well jealous Will, I'm still looking!!!

Hi bug4life, I think the condition in general was pretty good. There is work that needs doing to it, the ashtray, the leather trim could do with a tidy up, the paint in places and the wheels I didn't really notice being too bad (maybe my current ones are SO bad they looked good
) but as they are getting rarer and rarer and its the only manual I've seen for ages, I thought I'd bite the bullet. I got a price that I'm reasonably happy with so I can't wait to have it now and get into that long process of slowly restoring to mint. I imagine I'll have the car forever as I love the motosports so much, so I will invest in time!!

as for plans for it.....don't tell the die hard motorsport standard spec crew but I want to put all smoked lights on the front/side of it, a black grill and possibly eyebrows, I think it would look mental. If the leather console and door panels turn out to be worse than I remember then I'll get a retrim lined up, to match the original of course. Oh and a decent Alpine Ipod headunit and speakers. And maybe in time a non standard exhaust but I need to hear a variation first to see what I like the sound of. Maybe even a 2.7 one day............thats all!!

Well done mate,
That car is in the same condition as mine I would say. (From looking at the pictures)
Very rare to find. Trust me I know!.
Iv'e started messing with mine ie lights and little things. Its a really hard one, standard or mods with taste. I havent seen any motorsport that hasn't been tinkered with in some way shape or form.
At the end of the day, this run is 14 years old. It took me 2 years to find mine and I have the same leather/paint and wheels issues.
I have priced up leather replacement for ashtrays and bits. A bit costly, but still in stock. Andy aka Motorsport will be on shortly about leather!. Those rear ashtrays take a real whacking with rear passangers!. Rear Head rests is the only difference between mine and yours.
Any further Questions?.
Cheers Gareth.

if i was u guys i would do reverseable mods only and keep all standard parts if they are in good conditon
thats exactly what i've done with my sport, so if i ever sold it i have the wheels, zorst, gearnob,s/wheel etc to put all back on

Yeah, I'll keep mine [when I find one] as standard as possible, hurts it future value if you mess with it to much; as they becoming classics. Though if like William you gonna keep it, then I guess it dont matter.
I love the super low look of some peoples cabs on here, but did I read that changing the M-tech suspension really kills the price?
Smoked lights look good, but do you reckon a black grill/eyebrows a bit 'Max Power'? Almost over-cooked, if you know what I mean?
A new system a must. Gotta get; Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince 'Summer Time' sounding real hot in the cab. Though its nearly Autumn now!!! I'll be looking into the Alpine/Ipod headunits to Will, you any idea who you gonna trust to install it all? Cant be easy getting to them rear speakers, and they an odd size innit?

my mods are ALWAYS reversible. I cannot see the point, especially with a car that is getting rarer and more valuable, in doing things that will take away what makes it unique and limited in the first place!! Simon I think I will try out the suspension and see what I think, and then when I have a bit of cash, the HandR would be a nice reversible mod, but that's WHEN I have the cash as the car itself has more than cleared me out (and im going to uni in october
)
Gazza, I went to the stealers this morning, and for leather replacements down the tranmission tunnel they quoted about Ԛ£250 + Ԛ£310 for the two sections!! Maybe one day to get in concours! WOuld be interested if your prices are cheaper.
M3RAGS, I'm not going to blab about price, especially as I haven't actually paid and brought it home yet, but no I am not paying Ԛ£6995, a price has been agreed.
BUG4LIFE, I see what you mean about the black grill and eyebrows, and on a more standard looking car I wouldn't consider it. I just think it looks so good with the Macau blue and the smoked lights, I don't think you even notice that its not standard, it just looks meeaaannn!!!
On my car at the mo I didn't touch the rears, just got really good front components and a decent head unit and in most situations it sounds really good. Though I think with this car I might splash out (again when I can afford it) and get an amp in there, some decent front speakers and an Alpine H/U. God knows who will do it though as I would be really worried about someone messing around with trim/wires etc in my beloved classic car!!
Any ideas/recommendations??
cheers

When I went to see the car Will, he wanted a whole lot more than 7k! Reckon you got a bargin paying under 7.
In my New Beetle [that I have now sold to get the cab - god I loved that car!], I had a sweet Pioneer H/U, real good front speakers and tweeters - that was running off an amp in the boot, and a 10" sub/amp also in the boot. Didnt use the back speakers at all - but it sounded hella sweet dude.
Sorry I aint got any recommendations for fitting, though I think I remember Andy, up at WLN Automotive, saying he got a guy who does audio stuff? Always best to find someone that done an E30 before.
Dude....convertible Beemer, Uni, summer time, girls!!!! Imagine the possibilities?

Mate, nice choice ive not long picked up a motorsport again in same colour it had a hardtop as well, ok the softtop needs some work but it laready had the black grill and eyebrows, dark indicators on the side and rear looks the dogs. It is going in for a good service on friday.William wrote:my mods are ALWAYS reversible. However i think like most my interior is a little old now i want to try and keep it but a full re-trim is really what i want so will have to cost it up.
As for the two sections of the centre console and gear stick part, mine has all holes in it and i need to find some way of either restoring it or replacing it.
I will post some pics up soon.

yeah mate I think I saw an asking price of 7 and a half before so I suppose I've done ok, although it will need an expensive alarm, and all the work talked about before, so we will see. I remember bharat saying that his system in his old motorsport was proof that you don't need massive subs etc in a cab to get a good sound (they never really work in cabs anyway!), a good amp, components and headunit is all you need. Will give WLN a ring and see if I can find a bit more out about someone installing stuff that has done it all on e30's before.BUG4LIFE wrote:When I went to see the car Will, he wanted a whole lot more than 7k! As for uni, girls etc.........I can't wait, all part of the reason.......
Well done Will.
Glad to see you finally got a good one. DON'T go trigger happy and think about mods straight away. Enjoy the car a bit first, and make sure it's mechanically sound, IF you want to keep it for long.
I'll let the others advice you about suspension, and how to tart up the car with lights, etc
As for ICE, yes, I still strongly stand by what I said - you DO NOT need stupid subs and all that malarky to have a good ICE setup. Spend wisely on a GOOD H/U, quality cabling, good component speakers on the front, and good, simple ones on the rears. And a good 4-channel amp.
I don't know if BillgatesE30 (Chris) has done his install yet, but you could ask him.
And as for installation, mate, you can go and pay someone else to do it, or you can do it with help from mates, or fellow Zoners. I can give you a hand with it, and I'm sure I could rope in a couple of other 'Zone legends' (heroes) as well....

hey thanks a lot bharat, thats a kind offer and one i'd definitely like to take up as soon as I can afford the parts (which won't be for a while as I am now (or will be) in debt, pending the sale of my current car, plus even more cash!! As a result I don't have the money to start modding straight away anyway so I will definitely be taking my time, enjoying the car and getting to know it (and its faults no doubt!!)
Thanks for taking an interest mate, I will be in contact when I've got the available funds!!

PS - dont suppose you've got those photos of your ICE install in progress that you had up on the old zone have you? would be really interested to see them if you have

It's your car mate do what you like to it if it makes you happy! But keep all the original stuff just in case.
Peejay.
(It wont be long until all our cars look alike, no one will know what was original spec. ie smoked lights, eyebrows, colour coded grills, lowered etc etc)

Life begins at 40 ( to matter!)
No probs Will.
I'll look for the pics, but even if I don't have them, I know exactly how it was done. All you need is the goodies, and a LONG day of hard work.
But, of course, that can be done whenever. Until then, enjoy it

REading this topic again you say you can get the contre console from the stealers for Ԛ£200 or so notes.
When i went down to them in birmingham and asked if they still have them the guy told me there no longer sold, out of stock, no longer made?!
I have my centre console in the house am looking to get it repaired anyone know of a good place around the midlands?
As for smoked rear lights mine I brought it with em on the previous guy must of had them put on and brows on the front looks well mean.
Just gotta sort out the handbrake and then its on to the interior and a new hood.
