Hi ,

Any pics , advice etc would be appreciated.

Passenger seat to Drivers side?
Moderator: martauto
Your better off transferring the pieces (bolsters/backing/etc) from the passenger seat to the driver one. Easier than changing the mechanism, i THINKgrantfk10 wrote:Hi ,

The hinge units are handed,so the operating levers will end up in the middle of the car.
All other bits can be swapped without much problems.
So,for example,if your driver's backrest is worn, the passenger one will swap straight on.
Seat base is a little more involved,as you have to effectively strip two seats to swap the base over.
Main problem you will encounter is that the covers are held in place with a device known as a 'hog ring',looks a bit like a split ring for a door key,you can buy special 'hog ring pliers' and a supply of 'hog rings' from Frosts in Rochdale by mail order, but it is much easier to throw the things as far as you can(you have a suitable canal just down the road..
)and use cable ties instead.Swapping bolsters and cushions on 'sport' seats is simple, once you have the thing in bits it is all fairly obvious.
The wiki has a good article to start you off....

Swapping bolsters over????!!
It's extremely easy to swap over the lever mechanisms on the sides of the seats, leaving just the over/back lever under the seat in the wrong (but arguably preferable place), and the extra fold lever on two doors/cabs on the wrong seat.
Basically you remove the seat back (two screws for the panel; two to hold the back in place), undo the bolts either side that fix the frame to the base (one holds the seat belt end, which needs swapping over as well), pull out a small clip in the centre, push up a small spring loaded lever, and rotate the lever mechanisms off.

Swapping bolsters is a upholsterer's job. Very easy to switch mechanism or just swap the seats and leave mechs as they are. They will still be accessible.
Get the seats out of the car and onto a bench, remove the backs and it is all pretty straight forward and only need a few tools.
The circlip removal is easy and the tool is only a few bucks, not sure about using cable ties

I want the levers at their originated place. I would prefer to swap the seat parts over. I've done this already several times. Was in need to replace the seat heating too.
