Well here is my 1st ever attempt at spraying a rocker cover and a inlet manifold.

Basically etch primer both items and waited for them to dry.

Then masked up the rocker cover, so that the bmw logo and the lines were visible, then sprayed them red, then let it dry.
Then did the opposite, and sprayed the rocker cover matt black.

Image

Same goes for this, masked up the manifold, so all i could see was the logo and line, then sparyed them red.

Image

Then left it till it dryed, then masked up the logo and lines, and sprayed the rest matt black.

Image

Image

Same goes for the rocker cover....

After leaving these to dry...I then laquered them both to finish them off, and this was the final result, personally quite happy with the end result considering this was my first attempt.

This was the car after its 1st wash after a year....

well as you can see, previously i sprayed a rocker cover and an inlet manifold, after putting the rocker cover on i just had to see what it looked like with the inlet on also....

So this meant taking the charger back off again

so from this......

Image

well this did take some time, after taking it out, i started on the inlet manifold, took it off, i thought i might as well tidy it up a little whilst it was all off again. so tried to tidy up the pipes, wiring etc as much as i could.

As i went through this i thought i'd might as wel give it a good service, so drained the oil, took the oil filter off, took the spark plugs out. Got it some Mobile oil, NGK plugs and replaced the parts. Also replaced the throttle body gasket, rocker cover gasket, inlet manifold gaskets.

This is what it look like with the manifold on,

Image

Image

oh dont worry about the bolts(for those who spotted them), i was just bored and experimenting, will be changed

This is what it looks like with both the rocker cover & inlet manifold on....

Image

Image

And this was once i managed to put the charger back in...

Image

Still need to put the throttle body back in, airfilter in and finish of the wiring. and connect it all back up and hopefully wont have no issues, should run nicely...........fingers crossed winkeye

You managed to get an old style illuminated M gear knob from the dealer? I thought they were all with the large M in the middle now. I'd be interested in one of these as I'm not keen on the new design. Can I ask how much $ it was?

Thanks for the link. Pricey but tempting. Does it actually connect to a plug anywhere or did you splice it into the ashtray light?

i know mate winkeye thanks, but sadly had to sell them, but do i regret doing that so much , hell yeah

just a little update, managed to finish off the engine, after all this went to start the car, and guess what.....had a petrol leak somehow, sorted that out then saw a puddle of oil underneath  it was the pipe that goes from the sump to the inlet mani, i put the f'in spring in the wrong place.. so after some time and with a little help managed to get the sorted, took it for a blast up the road and back with no headlight working, and put it this way..................... :D on my face

Just a little update, well i bought some corbeau gt bucket seats a little while ago, since then i was looking to find some runners and subframe for them, luckily i put a little advert in the motorsport/trackday section and by luck, oldbimmer came to the rescue :thumb: . He had a pair of the runners & frames, so just got them off him today, and couldnt wait to see if they fitted. And guess what they did, no problem. Only managed to do the passenger side atm and finished putting that in around 9ish, eager or what, in this loverly weather and in the dark...

Now for the driver side, which im going to leave till tomorow and then get some pics up of it as soon as.

Will update once completed that.... :D

Just thought id carry on from my old thread, and put up some pictures of my new e30 up.
Well bought this sport a couple of weeks ago, managed to give it a clean today and a little polish, need to finish it off yet.
Not going to mess around with this too much, just thinking of adding a few bits that ive been collecting over many years but still deciding which bits and what to add as i want to keep it totally original, but with a few little touches to it....
Will update with the touches later...
Let me know what you think, positives as well as negatives !

a few pics of it...

Saw this just underneath the ignition barrel, never seen one before, assuming its some sort of immobiliser but didnt come with a key or anything
Image

This was the original dealer where it was sold, as you can see the original number plates as well..
If anyone has anything from these guys can you let me know, if you want to sell it, im after the tax disc holder plus whatever else really...

Original mileage

The OBC is totally mint, but the picture came out a little rubbish
Image
Even has the temperature numbers on it, not seen one before as clean as this
Image

Picture of the inside, still has the original interior from new, now rips or major wear on the usual places, also took the original tech 2 steering wheel off to replace it with a better brand new one

They have since got 33 made....or so my dealer says...and in stock at Germany. However,i had to send one back a few months ago because the stitching was loose and not even straight.I dare not get one from Germany in case its the same(none returnable),so im waiting until/if they filter over here?
