Is this the Maccy D's near the showcase cinema in teeside, wow I nearly crashed there too! Coming back onto the a66 my back end slid out and my front left wheel mounted the kerb. I was very lucky to control it

Cheers mate.

Gonna take a look at it this weekend, need to clear the garage out so I can store all the bits I pull off. Once I've got a replacement shell I'll send out the SOS for a work party.

Shame to be doing this in winter again

Sorry to hear about this :( as has been said time and time again it's good that you're alright. Good to see the Zone spirit is alive and well with the help you recieved and the offers you've had to reshell the car; another chapter to a frankly epic build if you do decide to go ahead with it. Good luck with it all :thumb:

This time though, buy a really clean car that's not a Cat C!

I'd imagine a Lagoon K plate 316i Touring with a snotty cam and wanked seats but a clean shell is the way to go.

yeah I'm tip top now thanks Fi

I'm wetting myself with excitement though at the prospect of a tidy E reg chromie for a nice sleeper. Hope it turns out to be a tidy specimen. Been parked up for 4 years, but so long as it isn't rotten nothing else matters as all the running gear would be replaced

Looks nice Lee - hope it's solid.

And even if it's not you've got all the ingrediants now just a case of waiting/seeking out the right base.

Good Luck!

thanks Rob, that's a worthy contender and I'll let you know, but my head is up my arse with that chromie. I wasn't expecting it to be a chromie as the lad contacted me and said he had an '88 318i I could have muchos cheapness.

Black non-sunroof 2-door chromie rightness! Hope that's rust free as that's a pretty ideal shell. Gheko's looks bloody good too tbh, but you gotta love the chrome.

EDIT: I've a vague recollection of Danthe saying the 24v swap into the chromie was more difficult than the facelift for some reason or other - could have been bulkhead related. I could be making it up, but he's obviously the 24v guru to consult on all matters anyway, and it's not like it can't be done.

Mike, I'm looking at taking a trip up to Teesside on Sunday as I want to have a quick look at this chomie which is in a lockup in Long Newton. My heart is sold on it, but it may not be as kosher as the pics show, so I'd like an option on your touring still and maybe a gander. Are you about Sunday?

More likely issues are with fuel delivery, those early cars come with the smaller tank and (I think) external fuel pump. Not too much of a problem, just swap in the bits from the banana(whoops,I mean the touring!)
