Would there be any differences or extra complications in supercharging a e39 540i rather than an e34?

If you're going to supercharge newer E39 with M62 engine, it might theoretically be a bit different because of the Vanos.
But, most likely one is going to buy readymade "bolt on" - kit where everything has been thought of so there're basically no big differences.

Aaaah the vanos.
That'll bump up the cost for engine management and mapping I suppose??

Why couldn't you just lock the vanos up???

Even megasquirt can operate vanos so it's no big deal.

Well I found out it's a non-vanos m62b44. So that's one less worry

Space to fit a larger intercooler is only major concern really everything else is workable
