I love E30's but damn, why do they always need work! I cant really complain, I mean at least mine aint catching fire (thats some scary stuff, I saw a clio v6 go up in a matter of minutes:| nice reactions dave!)

So I just have loads of paint work done..get it home...central locking dies :/ So now I am having to lean over to the other doors etc. And recently my steering wheel has been making a high pitched noise when I made small turns, so I took it off etc cleaned it up...all is ok for 500 miles. Now the steering wheel is slightly loose :(

Moves very very slightly, like a matter of mm's. Its not coming off, I checked and its done up tight so I cant figure it out. But its things like that which really REALLY annoy me.

Makes it worse as Its my only car, and I do a lot of miles,so it does get a lot of use (testing the old bimmer reliability!!) even though I do keep it very clean. Maybe one day we will reach the holy grail where everything is running ok, and nothing makes an odd noise? What you reckon?:P

Funny thing
German and jap cars are supposed to be the most reliable

But I've had more problems and spent more on the German cars I've owned, the jap cars just keep on trucking...

Plus points of the German ones seem to be better build quality (outside only though - the jap interiors were just as good) strength in a crash and rear wheel drive

The jap cars did weigh less & seem to have better steering/handle sharper though

swings/roundabouts
somewhere there must be the ideal compromise
Cheers,
Robin

I know what you mean mate.

It's been never ending now, but surely now I'm getting close.

Once my wiring is sorted. :x

Good luck sorting it Bert.

I thought everything was going great with mine. Then last week found the following:

Rear bushes shagged
Brake pads mullered
A hole in the drivers side inner wheel arch 6 inches by 3 inches letting in gallons of water a minute.
My Ice install blew up
2 3 month old tyres lost tread on the inside (rears)

I was just getting her nice and tidy as well and starting to enjoy her and then all that! With the wife turning into Satan's little helper as well at the moment I am rapid losing the will to live and I can see my happiness ebbing away.

Swirly... mine had the same problem... I just 'tweaked' the valance away from the exhaust by bending it inwards slightly... you can't even tell to look at it.

my one has been pretty good to me, no major issues, just front wheel bearings, propshaft coupling and cambelt lately.
I use my car as a daily drive aswell, do any you guys use your cars everyday or are they weekend toys?
