Requests to sell my motor
Moderator: martauto
I have been flatered twice recently and wanted to share it with you all....
A couple of weeks ago an argos delivery driver made a drop off in my close and on his way out stopped to put a note under my windscreen wiper asking if i ever wanted to sell my motor give him a ring. I was also driving down a narrow street last night and a cylcist stopped me to ask if i wanted to sell. He offered to pay me cash there and then!
I am quite suprised coz i've got a fare bit of rust around and theres so many cabs on ebay. Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Cyclist with that sort of money, Drug dealer, his boss will kill him for spending his money.
Delivery driver,mmmmm, maybe.
I've had plenty of people including delivery drivers stopping or putting notes on the car.
Don't be too surprised when they offer stupidly low amounts of money for the car.

I have had compliments/offers to buy on all the e30s I have had - to be fair though, they've all had pretty good bodywork. I've also found that to impress blokes in pubs, you really can 'polish a turd' - 10 minutes with a toothbrush on some ropey 15" BBS will usually see some punter wander up and go 'mint motor mate'. People loved the cabby though - plenty of thumbs up at the lights, flashes of lights and being accosted in beer gardens. I've been really missing it the last couple of weeks!

Trouble is, I'm tight, and the cabby was worth more and needed more spent on it. I'll have another one day!Rav335uk wrote: Silly boy, you should have sold the wannabe moordoor

I've had a few, but they tend to get a bit disspointed when I tell them I think its worth more than the couple of hundered they had in mind! Almost always at petrol stations..
No harm in them trying I suppose...

I've had mine a month now and so far a few looks (not sure if they were in admiration) and my bro said two guys were standing around my car one afternoon checking it out. Either they were noticing how straight and rust free it was or they were planning on coming back and nicking it. I'd sell it for £3k as is but doubt anyone would offer that on the street.
My postman had once told his mate about mine and he duley came round and scared the shit out of me trying to buy it. Offered me twice what I paid for it in cash there and then.
I've had the odd joker offer me money for it or try and tell me it's a fake one and they would do me a favour and take it off my hands for a fraction of what it is worth to me.
I think it is getting common for any older cars to have this happen to them now as it seems to be the "in" thing to own and old school cool car.

have had this happen a few times over the Years - unfortunately the vast majority of people who say "I'll buy that off you mate if you ever want to sell it" are the same potless losers who comment on For Sale threads.
I don't believe anyone who says they'll buy anything off me unless they show me the money.

e30topless said : Proper BMW's have 4 headlights, last of the run was the E30 and E34/E32 anything after that is just complete shite
I've had more compliments and positive comments owning the E30 Cabrio than any other car previously. Every git and his dog want to stop and talk when I'm out washing it, adds at least half an hour on the job!
Never get any negative feeling (as some have reported driving new BMW verts), plenty of randomers in their cars at the lights (including stereotype white van man), literally staring, often associated with a smile and a thumbs up.
E30s are a non-pretentious feel good car imo.
E36s are just old. E30s are classics.

Noone has ever asked to buy mine, maybe there's a lack of taste round here that stops people lusting after white tourings!
I did get a nice comment in the pub last night when someone asked me if I'd bought new alloys and they made the car look great. Actually I'd just cleaned up the wheels I bought off Hubble which are in good nick, but the comment was appreciated

man, these e30's are so retro and old skool! be on the look out on itv4 near xmas, a nice little program about them!!
Get them occasionally. Just say "no mate"
The problem is all these people seem to think that they will get a bargain. And they can offer me a low offer and I'll have their arm off. As if I somehow do not know the rough value of my car! Like the guy at the Bodyshop I got a quote from. Who told me "nah mate only £2K its an old H reg"
Now if somone offered me £20K cash the same day. then Yes, but until then...

The last note that i got left under my wiper arm read "how much longer do i have to stare at a stripped car through my front window everyday?" The bloke at number 15 needs hitting round the head with a shovel i hate him.
I do beleive more and more people are looking for old school cars these days! I think the scrappage scheme hs made alot of people realise that unfortinately, soon there arent going to be many cars more than 10 years old on the road.

stick a note through his door telling him to close his fooking curtains unless he want to contribute to your mortgage then he will be entitled to voice his opinion.scottidog wrote:The last note that i got left under my wiper arm read "how much longer do i have to stare at a stripped car through my front window everyday?" I told him i want to vomit when i see his renault everyday. I then made it quite clear to him that he shouldnt ever touch another mans car. as he might get more than he bargained for.fuzzy wrote:stick a note through his door telling him to close his fooking curtains unless he want to contribute to your mortgage then he will be entitled to voice his opinion.scottidog wrote:The last note that i got left under my wiper arm read "how much longer do i have to stare at a stripped car through my front window everyday?" Not sure why you are taking offence Scottodog, sounds like no.15 is offering you an open cheque book to get your car in the condition that suits him?? Tell him that you'd prefer a nice new M3 in the colour of his choice so he likes the view. I'm sure he'd be delighted to help out?scottidog wrote:The last note that i got left under my wiper arm read "how much longer do i have to stare at a stripped car through my front window everyday?"

i have done this.one day i went to tesco's and saw a 1992 lancia delta integrale evo 2 in a bit of a state.it stirred up a whirlwind in my mind.ooooh i wonder if he will sell it,i bottled it and didnt ask him and then the following week it was there again so i nipped home grabbed my money and sat eagerly next to "deltamans" car.he comes up to the car i start waffling on about deltas and we have a great convo about the car whilst finding out info on his one.i ive got 3 grand in my pocket and want to buy your car right here right now he was flattered but declined.worth a try though. i knew i would be able to pull about six back off it.wishfull thinking
