Just got back from a little jaunt around my home state and got to really use my E30 to full potential on some windy mountain roads through rain forest. The car went beautifully and handled like a dream. I am amazed at how nippy it was keeping it at high revs and double clutching around tight corners. Bliss

Ive been using mine on and off since Febuary this year. Its only got the 1.8 m40 engine at the moment but its still been an enjoyable drive. The power has been its biggest let down for me, so its going to come off the road for a bit to get a bit of a re-vamp so I can enjoy it more next year.
I've owned many cars over the years but the E30 seems to be one of the best I've had.

Loving/Hating mine in cycles too.
The woes of an M20B20 Auto moredoor, with too many problems to justify fixing (bearings, bushes, some electrics, virtually non-existant scuttle). Other than that, shes clean, nicely equiped and looks lovely. No dampness, funny 20yo smells, etc.
Shitty to drive sometimes, but other times are great
No consistency!

Uni is killing the project.
Was grumpy with her over the weekend as she left me stranded in Camden with a flat battery, AA to the rescue and an annoying £100 for new (properly sized) battery.
Yesterday after work did the M25 commmute back from Basildon, lovely and sunny but ruddy cold (jumper/jacket/hat and scarf essential) with the roof down. Super fun.

Pleased to see you're enjoying the m52 Lee - after all that effort, your first couple of comments about how it drove seemed underwhelming, and I was kinda gutted for you. Obviously running a treat now, and thoroughly deserved.
For my own part, down to just the moredoor in my sig now, kinda missing the rough and tumble of miltiple e30 ownership. Have got a Mk1 MX-5 to play with, and while great fun to drive, I just can't fall in love with it, so that will be going in the spring. It has made me increasingly aware of how desperately all e30s without exception NEED a quicker rack though, so that'll be on the list for next summer. Bodywork is beginning to deteriorate - NSR arch needs attention, along with the scuttle, but I'm trying not to let it depress me. The car really was mint when I got it, and deserved to be garaged, but having been too tight to rent a lock up I'm now paying in other ways. Every now and again get a pang of nostalgia for the old 320 cab, and consider chopping in both the mazda and the brownie for a nice 325i cab + hardtop, then I remember just how much I'd miss the moredoor. Tragic really, but it's really got its hooks in, even driving like a blancmange on OE suspenders.

Bronzit is my fave E30 colour.
I too have realised how slow the E30 steering is, my problem is that I would have to sacrifice the S50 exhaust manifold to fit an E36 rack. I have no idea if the S50 manifold gives me any more power, but it sounds angry so I quite like it

Yes, you're right there. i've actually managed to find an E21 323, left hooker in a strange green colour. it's an auto, but i'm sure that could be changed !Rav335uk wrote:That's betterbastosm3 wrote:theres only one car worth owning after an e30 and thats a classic BMW E21. even then i think i'll still have an e30 daily driver !![]()

oh the shame of it!
is the window near the number plate so you can identify the car amongst your classic car 'fleet' without removing the cover?

Glad to hear you are enjoying the car Lee.
My rent runs out at the end of October and I'm probably not going to renew it until Spring. However, it's given me loads of smile inducing trouble-free motoring over the last few months.
I need to look at the electrics and a few other bits whilst it's hibernating, but not until I've finished installing the M30 in my other one..

Good to hear - I thought you were selling up and getting out of e30s?E30Gheko wrote:Glad to hear you are enjoying the car Lee.
