A bit early I know, but the dates have just been revealed:

Image

If you can't work out when that is, well, France isn't the place for you. :)

Last year, 4 tourings made the trip with 5 zoners attending. It was Le mans, so obviously it was good.

Boat out there is looking like £38 atm, Thursday 0600 back Monday 1800.

Campsite, open to ideas from people. Beausejour is the easy option for a couple of reasons:

1) You can get tickets at face value without having to go through agencies(ticket touts!)
2) People with student cards can buy Race weekend tickets once you are down there at half the value you would have to buy one if you pre-ordered one, which you are forced to do if you use above mentioned 'touts.'
3) It is cheap, £50.

Downside, walking, and lots of it. So if you are fat(like tomson :) ) this might not be a marvelous plan.

This thread is just to generate some interest really, even if you do not fancy driving all the way down there(for money reasons perhaps) post up and you may get a space in someone elses car. This year I offered a space to a normal zoner, weirdos need not apply. The year before Ziggy offered me a space, luckerly he didn't have the same clause. :)

Rough costs, but bare in mind it can be as cheap or expensive as you want it to be.

Fuel £120
Ferry £40
Food and drink £100
Student weekend race ticket £32 (£66)
Campsite £50

Le mans 2010...Priceless?

Any normal northern zoners(is there such a thing) might be able to kip at mine if it breaks the journey up. If not a cheap premier inn stay at Dover is the best bet.

May may need to be a passengerbut might rope a buddy into coming in which case will not be and we will find something interesting to drive up in I expect.

Ooooh yesh. BSJ like last yr works for me, unless we can get on Houx or somewhere like that. I'll have a word with my mate Jon who was there last year - see how he went about it.

Do we really have to go at o'dark hundred hours again?!

& Jon, do you happen to be around for a beer tonight / tomorrow?

right already got 2 others definately interested possibly with 2 cars. Has anyone gone from LeMans to the ring for a few laps on the way home, miles out of the way I know but we are thinking of making a week of it if the ring is open for tourists that week...

Great stuff. :)

I've not gone home via the ring before - tbh I'm always pretty knackered & have a car full of cr@p - think I'd rather make a dedicated trip.

Jon, i'm in Salisbury tonight, sorry. Next weekend, or possibly tuesday I am in Totton.

Henry it is possible to go to the ring afterwards, I suspect more than a few do it. Looking at google maps, it is showing up as 555kms which isn't as bad as I feared.

I think getting Houx tickets will be a 'mare and a half. But I am all ears if it isn't that bad/expensive.

:poke:

I may venture down for for this again Jon

BSJ and Norfolkline is fine for me.

If we can get the same sort of location and size of pitch at BSJ as we did this year then even better :D
It's not as if we were all cramped together like most of the campsite, and it's pretty close for the night time excursion trackside winkeye

Don't know about being "normal" but I'm definately Northern.

I think i'll stay at the same place as I did this year, which was pretty reasonable price wise.

Beausejour is a good half hour walk from the main entrance. There are road trains but they tend to get very busy.

I know mate, ended up on one with a crazy drunk dutchman a couple years back, was a fun afternoon sat with a bunch of dutch nut cases and a load of lager though.
