After hearing some terrible news regarding an e30 with a 'cf' (read: black) bonnet, i had to post...

if you're daft enough to crash and need a new bonnet, the least you can do is paint it the right colour for your car

But mine is drift-spec
Besides, I couldn't give a shi* what anyone else thinks of my car! (Unless it's positive!)

I have never liked the CF colour bonnets, I'm not sure why and I don't like them on Japanese cars either. I don't care what other people do or dislike cars that have them, I just wouldn't on my car. If I had a CF bonnet I'd paint it the same colour as my car.

there is a philosophy about my tourers bonnet....
on careful inspection u will find that it is a pattern part.... and therefore is lighter than a proper BMW bonnet (dented one that i replaced)
i have NO intention of painting it red! in fact im gonna give it another coat of matt black.
...oh and i've sprayed my tailgate black aswell now!! looks awesome i think....
if its 'drift-spec' as dave said..... its ok.... if its just been put on as some CF look a likie....., on someones car who drives miss daisy... then it is very very chav/gay (delete as appropriate)
Daves looks awesome with dolphin bonnet in my opinion.. plus its on better nock than the one he replaced
in conclusion..... and in my opinion... it depends what car it is on as to whether it is chav or not

I got a black bonet, matches the car though
Seeing daves touring yesterday it looks ok, hes got the black bbs and the black spoiler at the back so theres a bit of a theme going on, thumbs up from me.

excellent stuff
i actually meant big dave's car
but i forgot about karan's! if it's not cf, why is a black bonnet so cool though? I can understand a matt black car, I believe that's very 'drift like', but just a matt black bonnet? is matt black a lighter paint or something?

In times past a Black bonnet was used in racing cars because it was assumed that Black would draw more heat from the engine, thus cooling it slightly
Also if i had a slag car id spray the entire dammn thing Black, not just the bonnet

matt black is also handy for avoiding glare off of the bonnet6potWil6pot wrote:In times past a Black bonnet was used in racing cars because it was assumed that Black would draw more heat from the engine, thus cooling it slightly![]()

my brother has a tatty MK3 Supra Turbo which he is fiddling with, mechanicals are now A1, bodywork next. He's thinking of doing the whole thing in matt black, bit of a Rat car look.
He certainly will be surprising a few Porsche owners in his Japanese capri
