Sorry Kos, it wasn't my intention to be so blunt, I'd had a rough day and shouldn't have been on here.Kos wrote:

mot failed
front flexi pipes, anti roll bar mounting bushes front, lolipop bush and all 4 rear brakelines corroded on the rear, handbrake not working passenger side. Great
went to get the screen done, couldn't do it as the new one i bought was cracked
to top off yesterday i punched myself in the nose sorting the handbrake and gave myself a nose bleed. Then to add trod in cat/dog sh!t!
Lets hope today is a better day!

Submitting an E36 for an MOT without wirebrushing and waxoiling the rear brake pipes is asking for trouble !

Well after 2 1/2 hours of getting wet for the most part i've done one side. Horrid job but alas i managed it without dropping the tank! i just undone the straps which lowered the tank a wee bit enough to pull the old pipe out and get the new one in!

nice and grim too

thats where you went wrong mate.. they give you a map they think will do the job.. at least with the unichip they can live map it.. and its tailored to your engine... not a generic map.. or a shot in the dark lol.Kos wrote:they putting a piggy back ecu on ti it ?

the guy who has done mine had mapped more 2.8 m52's than you can shake a stick at, its a flash map with some adjustments done while i was driving it and he was playing on the lap top.e30bmlover wrote:thats where you went wrong mate.. they give you a map they think will do the job.. at least with the unichip they can live map it.. and its tailored to your engine... not a generic map.. or a shot in the dark lol.Kos wrote:they putting a piggy back ecu on ti it ?

once the vanos issue is cleared up we will re map it more agressively. as it stands its seriously torquey. i can potter about in 3rd and 4th. you can slow down to a crawl in 3rd with the revs below 1000rpm and it pulls cleanly away
any way back OT for mr 13

But Unichip can be 'mapped' to take into account cylinders with dodgy compression, IE more spark and fuel to the lazy pots to liven them up !

so.....!
screen done, brakelines done, handbrake done, just the front end to finish and off for a ticket. Or so i hope.
Would an alpina backbox be a nice edition do we think?
