Hi. Do E30 320,s have a timing belt or chain? Been told different by two people. How often would each of these need to be changed? Thanks

They have a timing belt.

BMW recommend every 60,000 miles or 6 years.

I'd do 40,000 or 4 years.

Or if you've just bought it, do it right away for piece of mind!

Thats what I thought. Was ringing about one in a classified and ask seller if it had timng belt changed. He said it didnt have belt it had chain so it wouldnt need to be changed. He said he is a mechanic so you woud have thought he knew what he was chattin about. :?

hi,

sorry to jump in! I've just bought a 320i and assuming it has a belt, given that the car had no doc's is changing it yourself easy or is a job for a garage? How much would a average garage cost?

cheers
