3.91.
Why? Because I'm pretty sure that is what they came with from the factory.

Spot on. Tech 2 (not sure on Tech 1's???) sports came with a 3:91. That ratio (along with the sport Gbox) gives it the edge over a standard 325i which came with a 3:64 in saloon or 3:73 in a convertible.

Tech-1 sports came with 3.64:1. Which is 'better' depends on your priorities - 3.73:1 is a good compromise IMO.

Normal, all things considered. My series 2 sedan has a 3.73 as well.

I've seen both. I thought the more common ratio in a saloon is the 3:64 but there seems no comminality to it. I'm hoping a car Si and I may have secured has a 3:64 in it. We know it has an LSD but which one. '64 or a '73.
I actually prefer the '64 in my convertible over the '73 I replaced. But them maybe that as it's an auto.

I think 3.73 is one of the best overall ratio for M20B25

the best one for your car is probably the one you have in it already why do you want to change it is it noisy or something?

I guess theres probably an easy answer to this: How do you identify what lsd you have fitted? Is it stamped on the diff?

If you have a Sport then keep it as is and source a 3.91 LSD.

Haven't tried a sport box, but would have thought 3.91 felt the best with the taller first gear. My old touring had a 3.91 open diff and the stock 260 box 1st gear was useless.
