Break for a few days whilst I sorted some other stuff out and waiting for more parts to arrive. I'm getting serious parts fatigue now, losing track of what I put where and all the infinite amount of screws and clips and where they go.
Still waiting on a few trim parts for Drivers door, some are here but some aren't so I'll wait till that's sorted.
I did get this done though, the cable I mentioned in the previous post was in fact the interior light delay switch so I moved it over.
I also had to move the door handle mechanism itself as it has an extra arm in the lower left corner that activated the switch. This means my car had this feature from factory yet didn't have the relay installed in the footwell”¦?
But I will be fitting this 'delay relay' anyway - some guy in the USA made a bunch up a year or so ago - they basically make your interior lights delay then fade out like a modern BMW. Gay I know.
Got the dash in today which is a big deal for me as it starts to look like an interior again. Started with attaching the main loom to the underside - had to remove the ducting first.
New Heater Matrix to Dash Gasket - I can conform that when I tested the ventilation blower the force was at least twice as powerful as before - really glad I did this.
The Blue wire is the speed signal feed from the clocks to the Head Unit for more accurate GPS.
+++++++++++
Electrics time!
Slotted the new head unit in to check cable length etc, the bloody ISO loom is too short being held back by rear speaker wire so they have to come out and be re-terminated and pressed back in - this was supposed to be done today but have to order more bits and pieces again. Also, my damn OBC doesn't light up but I don't know if I fitted if new light bar yet so will try that before writing it off.
Amber illumination on the HU (can choose from 16 backlight colours)
This looks so right in the dash - by far the best looking HU on the market for the E30 and the feature list is insane - more on that later.
Fitted the rear speakers but used my old-school grilles to mask the nasty futuristic silver design - they're in and sound great.
Amp is also wired up.
Loving this - fitted the Becker iPod Controller which I got New for £40 - RRP £95!
Also been trying LED Dash Bulbs - these never burn out and never dim. Only problem is LED's inherently do not dim so they stay at max brightness even when you fade the dash illumination down.
Also fitted the power sunroof mech loom - bolted in and the threaded neatly down the A-Pillar to the accessory feed panel. Off to headlining specialist next week hopefully.
Lastly I fitted this, a very high quality Voltage Regulator / Cleaner / Filter. A lot of people have said these are pointless as the Alternator already has a regulator in it but I still get blown bulbs and dash bulbs now and again and I know from my experiences with HiFi that quality mains filters make a massive difference - should help with the Audio Quality too - cleaner voltage to the amp is a good thing.
Then moved on to the front valance. Went on and lines up perfectly. Fog lamps and indicators plugs all sorted and threaded the new OBC Temp Sensor into the brake duct.
Whilst I was there I had a few cans of Waxoil left so I dumped them all in the front end, Scuttle Panel, Front Radiator Frame, Front Chassis Rails and tons in the inner wings. This had already been done by the bodyshop but I did it again - there is tons of the stuff in there now.
Some interior bits arrived courtesy of Chris Warburton - cannot recommended him enough, he only sells mint stuff and service / speed is awesome.
Mint Centre Console - I am not using this one, it;s just a spare as I have something a bit more special

that I will be fitting.
Chris outdid himself here - these door cards and trims look and feel like spanking new trim.
Illuminated M-Knob - one of my favourite additions.
Won't work on it again till next weekend as I'm busy with work. Will have my door pods back though and some more very special bits by then though...
