M3 front wings to fit a 1990 320i?

Ladies, Gents...

I am going to view some M3 front wings on Saturday, along with M3 rear bumper and side skirts (thanks pete).

What I'd like to know is will these definately fit my '90 two door, and how much hassle is it to fit them? Can it be done by a complete novice?

Yeah, they'll fit. The only difference is with them is they won't have the side rubbing strip, so you'll have to remove it from your doors.

Pete knows his E30's - if you're unsure of anything, ask him. He won't bite.

Just make sure you don't eat all this Jaffa Cakes... he won't be happy. :wink:

I like the idea of taking off the rubbing strips anyway...nice smooth style. I actually fancy de-locking and de-handling too...

I've heard its just a case of taking a hairdryer to the rubbing strips, and there isn't any holes to weld and fill, just P40 them over, wet n dry...3/20 paper be ok?

If I keep the boot lock I take it will central unlock and lock the doors...

On the rear quarters I think I'm going to have to go for fibreglass copies, I've spoken to PSG about them, do you know the offside petrol cap, can it be 'filled' by one of those sparco aircraft style filler necks that smooth off the petrol cap flap (because this will obviously be pushed out by the extended M3 arch?)

I wouldnt have thought the rear bumper would fit, because of the width of the rear arches on the M3? E30 bumper - |____| M3 bumper - \____/

Yeah, but he'll be getting rear wing sections separately... I hope! Unless Pete's gunna cut off the old ones for him...

Nope... there holes in the door dude. Have to weld them closed... not sure about the petrol cap though... I would have thought you could replace it with an 'Aero' style cap... not the best way to do it though... would stand out a bit... make the whole thing appear to be a 'copy' - if you see what I mean...

If not, I like the carzone rear bumper...then it might be worth looking at side exit exhuasts... :wink:

Ignore me, I thought you wanted to fit them to the car with the standard rear arch! Should fit fine!

Yeh, plan is to get the rear wings. If Pete is happy to cut some, they'll need welding right? mega hassle as I don't know a decent bodyshop which is why the fibreglass copies seem to be the best bet.

The last thing is to make the car look like a M3, (because it isn't) but I really love the extended arches. I had thought that the aero cap would be a nice way to smooth off the wing...could it be relocated elsewhere (say into the rear registration area?) has that been done b4?

For what it is worth, the best way would be to stick to original position of the fuel filler / flap. On past experience with fibreglass X-packs on Capris, the original flap can easily be rivetted into fibre glass wing and the extra reach for the fuel nozzle can cope - without having to spend out on aero collars etc.
By the way - I see a reasonably priced aero cap kit on BM Towns' site.
Look forward to seeing what your finished car looks like.
