my car seems to have a flat spot aroun 4000rpm, and then really picks up and 4.5, ive had new rotor arm, distributor cap ht leads and spark plugs and changed oil, coolant etc, and was wondering if there are any known simple ways of getting rid of the flat spots? i was thinking maybe a chip off the zone? but not sure how well that would solve my problem?

cheers

What engine do you have? I can supply chips for most E30 engines that will eliminate the flat spots.

Note they are suitable only for facelift 1988-on 320i Motronic models.

Sorry dude, pre-facelift chromey 320i had analogue L-Jetronic, which isn't chippable I'm afraid. You may be able to remove the flat spot by advancing the ignition a little, by rotating the distributor clockwise a touch.
