Hi all
just a quick question. I have a layered metal headgasket which I'm putting on a M30 which I will be supercharging but not boosting above 0.7bar.
Should I go for a standard thickness or should I take one of the thinner layers off when changing it?
Cheers

7psi boost is fine with standard M30 stuff, well has been for me for a couple of thousand miles, a track day and seven runs at the 'Pod.
I'd leave gasket well alone too.
I've been told from several sources that a standard compression M30 can deal with a bar of boost!
I'm guessing that's with ARP or similar head bolts or studs, I'm not sure I'd go that high myself though!

Well a bar is good news but I won't be going that high. I'll be staying at 0.7 bar me thinks. Iv also been told that standard head bolts will handle quite abit.
Started building the head today what a ass that was.

No, their known for being a really strong engine, apart from the 2 I have had so far
had 3 rockers snap (you won't have this problem!) and the latest one is a cracked head I think...

Hmmm cracked head. That's something i'm worried about. Should be ok I hope. As for the rockers I have shelled out for so uprated ones so that HOPEFULLY won't be a problem.
Was wondering how this M5 cam is going to do though.
Oh time will tell.
I'll get some pics up soon for the head rebuild on my build thread.

It´s going to be pretty hard to put a M5 cam in a M30 engine.,
