if you have to be taken home my Mr AA or similar, be very careful if they use a tail lift.

my water pump went the other week and i phoned the aa and said as it's lowered and has a seized water pump and i had 90 miles to get home so they'll need to sent a flatbed... so after a 2 hour wait they sent a bloke with a van who looked and said i was right and the water pump had siezed! he had no way of getting me home so they sent a van with a tail lift. admittedly the bloke did his best and set the wheel bars as close together as possible to hole the car away from the lift, then set the lift low to the ground but it wasn't enough...

after changing the water pump and putting the car into use again i noticed it was well leaky in the oil dept...

the tail lift had smacked my sump something rotten!!!! it's now got a bent front panel, broken lip and a cracked sump!!!!

look here for grim pics: http://photobucket.com/albums/v382/gare ... ring/sump/

Call the AA and tell them , send them photos too, what have you got to loose, and you can say you haven't used the car to do the damage yourself cos it had a broken water pump!

Good man!
See if you can get the BMW dealers to put a new oil pump in at the same time!!! I bet if they know the AA is paying they will do it!
When our landrover went in on warranty to have the clutch done, they ended up changing all the crank oil seals and the gearbox oil seals and they even put a new transfer box in as they knew it was on a warranty job - dodgy bastards!
