Best stuff for cleaning BBS

Whats the best stuff to use when cleaning my BBS, i use Wonder wheels when i want them to look mint and cheap tyre foam for when its a normal wash

can anyone reccommend a decent tyre foam thats not aggressive but gives excellent results, and makes life so much easier

Do sealants make them easier to clean ?

wonder wheels is strong stuff. i stopped using it after i got pissed off of being in pain when it got in my many cuts in my hands!

I use muc off wheel cleaner, a toothbrush and a hose pipe.

I just use regular car shampoo with plenty of elbow grease.

Agreed regarding using sealant + wax on top - certainly makes future washes much easier.

Meguair's Tyre gel (the purple one) is pretty decent. Apply with a washing up sponge.

Autoglym clean wheels is good stuff, and a gd sized paint brush works well spray it on leave it for few mins then i give them a light brush and they come up a treat

+1 I love the clean black tyre look, Not the sickly sticky look.

I have also found Blackfire long lasting tyre gel is pretty good, a little more gloss than z16 but some of the people I clean for want that. (and it's cheaper )

Arrrrrgh, cleaning BBS wheels. I will never run them again - a terrible combination with genuine BMW pads which shed dust by the bucket load.
That said, when I had them I found Autoglym alloy cleaner pretty good although a bit caustic. I think hard work is the only answer

I'd advise against Pagid Fast Road pads in that case. Dustiest. Pads. Ever. (Work well though!)

I used Sonax extreme wheel cleaner...but it's expensive, so now just shampoo with water, and special brushes to reach those areas between spokes...pretty boring job to do every week but I got used to it

Billberry safe wheel cleaner, it's great stuff and unless the wheels are caked in brake dust it's all you will need, the acid based stuff many have mentioned above like wonder wheels etc is more at home on brick work, I still use it but only in extreme cases.

Here is a few pics of a wheel detail, this is on my BBS wheels but it's something I do on customers cars too, takes up to an hour per wheel, I used Billberry to clean them, clayed, Tardis to dissolve the tar spots and Chemical Guys wheel guard to protect, bare in mind these wheels are 25 years old and have never been refurbed so do have some scratches.

however one they are clean, use a sealant on them and all you will need there after to clean them is some regular car shampoo or some APS in weak mixture which is what i use

Then clay and autosmart tardis to remove the tar/old glue.

Dry -> Polish -> then seal with a good wheel sealant or zaino.

Sealant/Wax is the key here once they are cleaned, prevention is better than cure.

I seem to remember that you could buy a plastic disc that went between the disc and the wheel and stopped the dust and muck coming through.

Don't know if you can still get them (or if they were good/safe) but might be helpful given that prevention is better than cure?

I agree, Smart wheels is what I use on all customers cars and my own, it's non-acidic and works a treat, a good few brushes and patience and you get this....

Also I find if you use a good sealent like Poorboys Wheel sealent they are easier to clean each time.

my BBS are so dirty from the inside, I never tried to clean them tought, pretty sure it won't come off...
What is the best way to clean that old dirt out of wheels?
I got pressure washer, loads of compounds, and wheel cleaner

Well when we were young and a friend had some of these cross spokes and discovered nitro-mors and well bought loads and got all 4 wheels and got countainers and filled em with the liquid disaster and well we was left with bare metal rims, tyres which werent worth a toss but they were clean

I doubt it, Billberry is £8.50 for litre, even dilluted at it's strongest 3:1 ratio it only works out at £2.83 per litre.

Yes, they can be used on bare alloys and perform well in my experience.

But it is acidic, and if used constantly on your nice wheels they will get damaged and laqure peel will happen.
