I'd get the wheel's and wait for them to get the cap's. Nothing stopping you looking the caps else where in the mean time.

You could probably get a set of repro caps off Ebay I have seen them on there before from far east sellers , they could maybe tied you over till the Originals turned up ?

trouble is its a lot of dosh for wheels with no centre caps.. i was struggling to justify them in the first place, now i have got to piss about waiting for centre caps which could be years let alone months or getting second hand ones which could also take months, that need painting, the locks wont work no keys etc then they wont match the hassle is just gonna be a joke for a set of brand new ruddy wheels,
more i think about this the more annoyed im getting :x :x

you have to wait for your wheels until the centre caps are made now? and they dont know when the caps will be made? why not get your money back and tell them to get in touch once they know what theyre doing?

Exactly, are alloywheelsdirect cheaper than the dealers can supply the wheels?

If Ronal were allowed to make them again at a reasonable price, they'd sell shitloads! At around £600 a set they wouldn't be able to make enough of them although they'd need a cheaper clip in plastic centre cap.

Apparently its Borbet that makes them now, not Ronal anymore.

I had to wait 6 months for my new alpina steering wheel.

I am about to order an alpina rear spoiler and there is no delivery date due to quality issues with the manufacturer.

Patience my arse. If i was laying out a grand, i,d want whatever i was
coughing up for to come complete. Surely it,s not too much to ask for the wheels, whoever is making them, to come with the centre caps. Or am i being unreasonable.
If the wheels are being made under license, and the centre caps are manufactured ny someone else, how difficult can it be for the wheelmakers to liase with the cap makers :?: :?

i would grab the cash back and earn some interest rather than them earning it while they keep me hanging on or just buy some different wheels, lets face it alpinas have been done to death, unless of course your cars a genuine alpina

We are talking about producing very low volume car parts for a car thats been out of production for 15 years. We are lucky that so much is still available for E30's.

Try ordering parts for Fords over 10 years old and you'll see how good we have it!

I understand that, but why can the caps not be made once an order for wheels is placed and the cash taken :?:

The OP bought them from alloywheelsdirect not the main dealer.

Prob because they need to be made in bulk, not just four.

I doubt ronal or borbet or whoever have to produce many genuine aplina wheels as people sell reps on the fleabay. This, I reckon, means its a case of building up a few orders then making a small batch, as to ask any alloy manufacture to make one set is a bit of a waste of time. Same with the center caps. Where as things like borbet a's or the latest BBS are made in large batches and then shipped around the world to distributors. Whats the point in making a tiny batch of 20 y.o replacement wheels?

BMW is a business after all and business's shouldnt operate like that. IMO there is no reason why BMW can't put in an order for 200 sets of Alpina wheels and caps, its not like they dont have the money and its not like they wont be making any profit on them.

Exactly. Do it right, or don,t do it at all.
The very fact that the OP is having second thoughts sums it all
up. No business can afford to lose any prospective customer
in these current climes, and whether it be 4 or 400 wheels,
the caps should be made and supplied at the same time.
Not Rocket surgerey is it :?:

or simply not advertise them as in stock 10 to 14 days delivery,
basically to put it all out there they source them threw the bmw main dealer network, but obviously get them at a cheaper rate which they then pass on, as they are only a warehouse type set up. so to be totally fair to alloy wheels direct they only no what the supplier tells them,
chris who has been dealing with it all has chased up other dealers etc and gone the full route that he can and has contacted alpina direct also so i cant thank him enough for his efforts and at any time if i have had enough of waiting or the car is sold etc he will refund me.
and you cant get better than that tbh so its a case of i will have to wind my neck in and be patient or just not bother, the trouble with the not bother option is that i still need to find a set then all the hassle of refurb could be buckled still got to get centre caps etc and thats if any even come up for sale , so im gonna be patient and get me a new set hopefully so please alpina or whoever bmw ronal etc please fappin hurry up

no what your saying buddy but its the wheel i want for the car
i dont really want 17's and dont want any think bigger j
not many other wheels im a fan of for the e30 bbs's are nice but i cant be arsed with polishing up and constantly sorting out the rims, dont get me wrong the car is looked after but i do use it for fishing so it cant be dragging on the floor with shiny rims if you get my drift. the alpinas will be pain enough to clean and i dont really care if they have been done to death, im not trying to win any prizes i just like
