A friend of mine has her eye on an E30 cabby and has asked my opinion on this one...

Worth the money?

My knowledge of cabs is a bit sketchy although on the limited info in the ad this looks reasonably clean. She is hoping to view it on Wednesday morning.

I was wondering if anyone local knows these and was available to accompany her to give it the once over? It's too far for me to get to!

Its got Neon cabby seats, Which i find strange unless it used to be a neon cabby or they sourced the seats from a Neon

It looks like its ben blown over aswell to me, the only thing with a tec2 kit, it hides rust well

Id wana pull the rear door cards out and look at the inner archs but on a cabby its more difficult than a saloon

Looks nice though

Yeah i noticed the neon seats Cliffy. I don't think she'd be too bothered by that. I think she's just lookin for a retro cabby and has been lookin at these for a while.

That's not quite right IMO,
Car is advertized as a 320i,but that has neon blue trim....only available on 1.8(M40) Design Motorsport Convertible,age is right for trim but wrong for engine...
Says five seats but cabbies have a narrow rear and two belts..
Tech 2 steering wheel and gear knob match the interior but the engine is wrong..
Either buy on the basis that you can see what you have and pay £1500ish or walk!
Defo not worth £2300.

I walk through walton to get to on the train in the morning and also spend most evenings there so may be able to fly by if it is in the correct end! Looks like it could be in the heart which i fear has private gating!

edit: definately not the heart!

Ad states it is a 320i, I thought Neon's only came as 318i's

DVLA also has colour recorded as Blue and taxed until Jan 2010.

i'm 10 minutes from there and off all day on wednesday so will quite happily take a look at the car for the interested party.

in regards to the interior it could have just been fitted to replace an old worn interior. so for all the doubter i'll asl a simple question, how many times has some one on here changed their own interior for a better one ???

the car looks like it mauritious (sp)blue, very rare on an e30.

Wrong headlights ,( crash damage ?) , wrong trim (originally natural leather) , no suspension and generally unkempt and council looking. Unless the Z list celebrity is auditioning for a role in the next AliG movie, best avoided !

PS AndyP has a very tidy white H plate 325 convertible with nice black leather and very few issues for £1500.

I had a little brouse at cabs on ebay, pistonheads, gumtree, autotrader etc last night and found quite a few that looked a lot nicer than the turd in question. Most were cheaper too.

I've sent her a load of links to look at and relayed most of the above comments. Let's see what she says.

Thanks to all who offered to go take a look. In the end I got the impression that she was going to buy it no matter what, so there was no real need for anyone to tag along.

Got a call last night from my mate as they were driving it home.

Oh well, I did try to tell them that there were nicer ones out there. Some people eh?
