Hi all , I have been on here for a while and now have most parts for my Cosworth conversion. I did do one a while ago and there were many parts I was not happy with so this time I know where I went wrong.

I will be starting my project within the next few weeks with build pictures if enough positive feedback.

First I brought my old cosworth project back.

And stripped it.

Then brought this clean dolphin grey with tech 2.

E30 YB number plate (YB cosworth engine code )

Good work Robin, keep the pics and updates coming.

Is that inlet plenum normal for the YB lump? I'm not too up on these victorian power plants :)

The car is still running and driving with the 325 engine. I want to show someone the old engine running before I sell it.

So the engine will be removed within the next few weeks.

Hi Lee, I had the inlet custom made for my last project but it had no servo . I do not think it will fit even with a clio servo but will try and see how it goes. If not I still have a standard one.

i am loving this project!!!!!!!!!!!

The old one with a cage and stripped interior would have driven you crazy after a while.

The new beast wil be a serious street sleeper.

Cant wait to see it out on the road.

What power are you expecting from it?

Nice project, would love to see some more photos as you go. 8)

You was lucky to be able to buy your old project back wernt you? or did it not go far?

did you sell it with the YB plate on it? would guess that would be worth alot :D

What power was it running before?

I sold my project as I brought a r33gtr skyline 420 bhp and was very happy with it until it got wrote off. I then brought a house and spent a year decorating it. After the house was done I was looking at projects again and saw my old car still not finished and with a new owner. This was about 18 months later. I brought it back for a higher price as I knew what it was worth in parts.

The old car did not have the E30 YB plate. I paid £400 from dvla.

The car was never set up and run in properly. It was running about 275 bhp. This time I am looking for 370-380 bhp

How many months/weeks/days between re-builds on the dodgy ford lump?

Have you contemplated reinforcing the shell around the diff mounts? Would have thought you'd be coming close to the kind of power where that'll become an issue... it'll blimmin shift though in the mean time!

In standard trim around 60-70k miles.
Go mental and fit a 550-600 lump and you're looking at 15-20k mile rebuilds, maybe more depending on how you treat the car.....assuming it's been put together by someone who knows what their doing and has used appropriate parts.

a standard cossie wil last over 100000 miles no problem. theyre not made of chocolate.
i had problems with my diff mounting and it needed strengthened.
all my problems at the start were down to a knobhead 'specialst' not being so special.
i spent a few grand having someone thats knows what they are doing puting things right and never had anymore problems.

While I agree with you that they're a tough lump, and will go well over 100k before NEEDING a rebuild, I've found after owning a few that the performance and general refinement of the YB does tend to drop after around 70k.....again depending how it has been treated. At that point I've always rebuily, and I know a few specialists who share this opinion. I'm tempted to get another YB and drop it in somewhere it doesn't belong, but it's such a tall and heavy lump and there are other really good engines to choose from now.
I love seeing one in a non-Ford car though. Your old one must've been "lively"
