If you have an airbag. Then Yes!!!
what are those 2 resistor like sticks mounted in the passenger wing next to the lights?
Although i cant think what they are for. I dont think they are crash sensors.

if you mean the yellow things near the wings that look like sealed in sufe units, I thought they were to do with the ABS system, but I could well be wrong

Yes the E30 has a crash sensor, it is located in the central locking control box in the driverside kick pannel, and unlocks the doors in thevent of a crash.
If you buy a new BMW 3 series it will even phone the emergency services with your location in the event of a crash, if you have the gps pack.

Only fitted to early facelift cars, dim-dip function, lights the dipped beam at a low output when the sidelights are switched on.smithy318i wrote: what are those 2 resistor like sticks mounted in the passenger wing next to the lights?

Why? Has your central locking stopped working?

My central locking is also playing up,
sometimes there is a couple of seconds before it locks ,and sometimes it locks and then unlocks,AND sometimes it wont lock at all and I have to use the tailgate lock.

Loock at the other central locking threads, that sounds like a dodgy pillar plug to me if the boot always works. It's the wires from the door to the car.
