plus you can adjust the bump, rebound to be softer and ride height! softer on the road and wind it right down harder on track!

its like having a large cake and eating it all as they say

That looks very nice Barry. It looks unmolested aswell as most I see are. Think, what other car could you buy for £4100 and get such value for money.

This is exactly what i thought. Prices have bottomed out an may even start to rise like E30 M3's did a few years ago.

There are hardly any nice coupes for sale at the moment and unmolested ones are virtually non existant.

This one even has the original radio!

I tempted to keep it oem.

If fitting Bilsteins, be aware that M3 front legs have the welded on bracket for the anti roll bars so you will need M3 specific units. If you can't get these, you can convert to standard E36 B8's and fit an Eibach front bar.

I know that i am deffinately not going down the coil over route. I got a price on front and rear Bilstein B6 shock from Euro car parts which is £547 all in and i got a price from work on four new sachs/boge OE ones which is £460 so not sure what to do.

I'm still temped by the B6's and an Eibach pro spring kit.

Absolutely Mr S. M3 springs are fine, but slightly stronger damping won't go amiss.

Coil overs are great for a track car, but once they're on a nice road car they seem to just spoil it.

Talk about coincidental timing.

This came in the other day for an oil service and brake judder. It was a '98 SMG car with only 58k on it but most importantly it had a fresh set of Bilstein B6 dampers but still on the original springs. This is the second SMG E36 i have driven and although better, it was still crap.

Most importantly though it gave me a chance to essentialy "try before i buy" with this suspension combo and as i thought it would be, it was great. I still would like to try one with these dampers but with eibach springs just to compare as i feel they to will be great if not better but the chances of a car coming in with them as slim to none.

This turd needed front discs and pads in the end to cure the judder. My car need some soon as well so it was interesting to see how much the are. From my work, £444 retail! 8O Luckily the discount virtually halfs that!

Barry, absolutely no offence meant to you - but if you posted a pic of my car on t'internet and called it a turd after me paying main dealer prices for the privelage then I'd be pretty mad. It would also lose you your job! The car is clearly visible and hardly discreet either.

Just a thought!!

He doesn't actually means he thinks it is a turd though I don't think.. Just an 'affectionate' name for an older BMW

I call my own car a turd all the time..

No offence taken Dameon. To be fair the reg isn't legible so there is no telling whos car it is and dakar isn't that unique on E36 M3's.

All cars a turds, you should know that by now. :D

As for main dealer prices, its over ten years old so its only £50 ph as opposed to £125 ph.

I've also had the pleasure of an inspection 2, timing belt and other various small jobs on a mint 42000 mile zinober red with black leather 325i cab.

I wont post a pic.

 It's just my luck to get an Apprenticeship is at a Marque where I'll never be able to afford the cars, and even then it's only 15% (I suppose that's quite something with Bentley parts...)

Nice Car, I look forward to seeing it's progress.

All things considered, How does the E36 compare with the E30 Sport?

BSS

You aren't comparing like with like though. This susp may be newer than the (probably original) stuff on your car.

Get the coilovers. Get the poly bushes and the anti roll bars. Be a nice car then

Its no different to posting a pic of any car that doesn't belong to you.

There is no way of identifing the car or who it belongs to.

I have not mentioned in this thread where i work.

I cant see the big deal.

slightly OT, but i know a few people who have been sacked for stating their opinion of work/customers or have had work related banter on the net get them into trouble

personlay i think its all OTT, but you just ahve to be careful at times

any way, its great buy that car. with eibach springs and the billies i dont think you can go wrong.

as regards to Baz's comments on said M3, they aren't meant in a derogitory way and if the person who is kicking up a fuss dare to look at other threads they will clearly see turd is simply a slang for car, motor, box on wheels.
I can't see a problem with it as it's known term and accepted by those who regulary read the message boards.
At the end of the day all said and done, the car in question, had it not been wearing M3 badges and sporting a potent motor it would be lined up outside the nearest hyundai dealership awaiting it's fate after being chopped in for 2k off a 5 year life span car.

Just like the one owner 63000 mile mint and i dont use the term lightly in this case, E36 318iS that had pretty much every option including the M3/Mtech body kit, traded in against a new mini cooper for scrappage, on the second day i was there.

Sweet car Barry, Estoril Blue would be my second choice after Techno Violet, both with Silver leather :)

These turds will never be worth E30 M3 money as there are so many of them about in comparison. Keep it standard though mate IMO :D
