Think it would be very difficult to do it into a 316 (carb) wiring all different..

A 316i on the other hand, you need;

Engine
Suspension upgrade
Brake upgrade

Ask Swirly he has doen it

A hoist :teehee:

Sorry, mad half hour
If your thinking of just buying the engine because some one has offerd it cheap then think again it's either blown the head or you will spend a lot more money on trying to obtain all the running gear that goes with it.
You'll at least need the loom and ecu, gearbox, differential, and all the suspension and brakes.
Then of course lots of room and time and a spare car because there's no way you'll get it done in one day.

What's that saying? Fail to plan ..........

If your 316i is in pristine condition then it may be worth it.

Some price guides
Engine/gearbox/prop/ecu etc etc Ԛ£400
Suspesnsion/Brakes Ԛ£200

So if you can do it yourself, with a little help then it could be cheaper than buying an IS...just depends

Buyin all the bits to make a 316 into an iS would be more expensive than buying an iS - it's essentially a Sport with a different engine.

You can get a half-decent one for less than a bag-of-sand now anyway.

:yeahthat:

as kidsinister said, the 318is is basically a 325 sport with a smaller engine and less jazzy interior

you would need all the gearbox prop etc and i would imagine it would be hard to get the engine to sit exact

but would be good to get a Is engine in a car with a 316 badge on :lol!

Definatly just buy the 318is, youl end up spending loads on the 316i and it wont be worth it at the end of the day.
