I have a bmw 316i lux 2 door with central locking, but it also has an alarm but the fob has been missing before i bought the car, anyway i have to lock and unlock it from the boot because the passenger and driver doors are dead locked and the key doesnt work at all, my problem is the battery has gone dead and i cannot get into the car, i can only get into the boot, but theres no way forward, so i want to ask if anybody knows how to break into it without any damage, like using a coat hanger in the door or being able to get the bonnet open somehow.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section but i just need to beable to get the car on the drive because tax has just run out.
Many thanks in advance

it wuld be an invite for thieves to break into any e30, and what says that your not a theif planning on stealing an e30?
by no means do i think you are a thief mate, and i didnt mean to offend you in anyway, just telling you how it is.
cheers, tim

If the doors are deadlocked they would not open when the boot is unlocked
There is NO nucleus.

If the front doors are deadlocked, then unlocking the boot will not help. The front doors still wont unlock.
If youve been unlocking the boot to unlock the front doors, are you sure its actually deadlocked? The key lock on the drivers door will be in a horizontal position if its deadlocked - it will be vertical otherwise.
The deadlocks only work from the drivers door as well.

I don't know abot deadlocks or anything but when I locked my key in the car I used that plastic tape stuff you get around parcels in a loop and wriggled it in behind the door seal and over the door pin and got it open after a few tries.

If the alarm fob has been lost are you sure you have the same locks all round the car?
Does the key that opens the boot fit the ignition?
If it's your car go to BMW with the log book and get a new key cut, That cured my problem with a dodgy lock.

It took me 2 hours to unlock the car with a coat hanger after i locked the keys in the car and the engine running
I have an option for you! open the bonnet (from the outside) DO A SEARCH on how to do it. and replace / charge the battery.

I lost my key not so long ago and got some spare windows for the rear quaters of a 3door but i ended up taking the car off the road so i still have those spare windows if you need them (should you have to result to breaking a window)
otherwise, you might be able to get a set of jumpers in under the bonnet if you jack the car up so as to allow the central locking to work.
let me know if you need the glass.

Thanks very much for the replys, i think i am going to try to get the bonnet open somehow because i need to get power to the battery so i can get the central locking working and can open all the doors, i only need power and i dont want to break the glass so thanks for the help im going to try and research how to get the bonnet open without too much damage hopefully.

Easier and cheaper to remove the front grill section to gain access to the bonnet cable ( nearside) than to break glass . Try holding handle up then turn the key from the deadlock position. There's a thread on here somewhere on how to gain access

Sort of, when deadlock is stuck on, put key in passenger side door, and turn key and lift the handle the same time, the door should open, this has worked on all my E30's.keith52 wrote:Easier and cheaper to remove the front grill section to gain access to the bonnet cable ( nearside) than to break glass .
