Bloody idle problems and icv help please
Moderator: martauto
Good evening all. I have a 318i Auto and have the old faithful rough idle problems ,also when i'm in drive sat at a stand still, the car just wants to go,the rear end bounces up and down like it's doin pressups! and so do the revs, and mpg needle is also swinging backwards and forwards from 50 to 0. When i disconnect the icv electrical connection everything is fine although the revs do go up slightly. Can any of you bm techys help me on this or has anyone had the same and what did you do to fix it?? I have replaced the throttle body hose because it was split and today cleaned out the icv.I'm now at my wits end and with very little english sterling i can't afford to take it to a garage, who will proberbly charge me a fortune for something i could maybe do myself.

Does sound like the ICV is shouting 'enough',try a 'wanted ' add for a s/h one if funds are low..

Check out the sellers feedback, and ask the question. Traders who sell a lot on here rely on their reputation, so won't benefit from selling you a dud.Westy35 wrote:Cheers mate i will, how will i know if a second hand one is in good working order?
If it ain't broke, fix it till it is

That's the rub,but new one's will cost at least an arm, maybe a leg as well,so a £25 s/h part has to be worth a punt!Westy35 wrote:Cheers mate i will, how will i know if a second hand one is in good working order?
M40 engined cars are being scrapped as no-one wants them,so you do stand a good chance of getting a decent bit.
