Moderator: martauto
Hi guys.
I'm thinking of booking a drift day in the 325.
how many of you boys get the back end out on a daily/regular
basis.
I'm only asking as wanna no if the e30's suffer with oil starvation when drifting/donuts.. i guess the do to a certain extent..
plus getting a feel for the fourm.
cheers people

Alright mate,
i've done about 8 drifting days at Oulton Park in my sport and never had any trouble at all, i know another 2 lads who use another sport and 318iS and they too don't have any bother.
I'd say your good to go, where are you thinking of doing the drift day?

BMWs have the least amount of trouble out of all drift cars I think. I broke the clutch cylinder once but even then the car was still driveable!
No oil starvation but mine does get fuel starvation on right-hand bends, I recommend putting more in the tank if that happens.

Was down at Castle Combe today watching the action day, and there was a drifting session after lunch. There was a very talented guy in a military green E30 out - very impressive to watch. I think it had way more power than the normal B25 though, it sounded V8-ish and possibly blown too.
Anyone on here?
Martin.
Loving the sparks from the rear wheel, I think the rear tyre had just let go at this point. Second tyre that session too, that is committment for you .....

Lots of bikes, the odd modern BMW, and now an 88 e30 335i Cab project with E32 running gear

That is a former TrampDrifter's car I believe, forget his name though. I believe it's running an M30B35. And the driver is very good at what he does, I think he's been in a few BDC events.
Sheep, I'm planning to be at the Pod on November 11th if you're interested. Mine's the dirty silver Touring.

That's not Mike's car, he scrapped it unfortunately. The dude who owns that E30 is called Martin, don't know his last name. Just read his build thread and it's definitely an M30 in there.
I'll be down at Pod for December 3rd as well, I work weekends so can only make it on Wednesdays.

I bought my E30 with the intensions of learning to drift but after the work i put in changing the engine ive grown to love and respect the car alot. I've had the rear end out a couple of times, i deliver pizzas as a 2nd job to earn a little extra cash and im always met with an oppourtunity so i take advantage, plus at 2am there are no one around to the whole city becomes a playgroumd lol. This is the 1st car ive ever drifted so i was suprised at how excited i was after i got the back end out. it's a hell of a buzz.

I agree, the steering rack on the E30 is horendous, lolyeah_mick wrote:but i definately need a e36 rack.

Yep, The standard rack makes you more of a indicator and wiper sweeping master rather than a drift king
They feel much better with the better racks as you can really get good angles and still be able to pull it back or more importantly when your drifting properly, getting the opposite lock back off again coming out of the corner
Rear subframe bushes in good condition are a must too!
