how restritive is the std mid section
would i benefit from straight piping it.

Only really make it louder mate. Standard BMW exhausts arnt restrictive at all really. If your looking for bhp gains you want a quality 6 branch manifold. Use the search function at the top of the page to find andymn. I know for a fact he has a very nice one for sale. I cut through his middle section yesterday so he could remove it.
