Hello Fellas and greeting from BULGARIA , very .. i mean VERY good forum you have !
I need your advice about the heart of my car -
I have 1990 M20B20 coupe , and i would like to keep it stock as as the engine to be from E30 , i need your advice about which engine is the best to put in a E30 , and the closest look to stock for boosting it ! You will say the M3 engine but it's too expensive , i have a budget of 2500 EUR !
Please help , i've red a lot about the M50 or M52 swap , but i am loosing the stock look , and too many changes in my car must be made , so for now i will be back to the stock E30 engines !
Please share your expirience !
Best Regards
Simeon

Welcome to the forum!
I agree with alex, when done correctly the m30, m50/2 can look stock. I had a mate of mine look at my m50 today, and he couldnt believe how well they look in the car and how oem they can be.

PERFECT work on both engines , BUT nobody can do it here ! May be if i look to buy already swaped whole E30 with M30 or M50/2 !?!? THe car should be for Export and i dont need any paper work , cause i will use it as a parts car ! Do you think that the right wheel will be a problem in the swap between mine and the uk car ?

The M20B25 looks exactly the same as the M20B20 to the untrained eye
Extra 50BHP or so with not much hassle

I am thinking the same way , M20B25 with some invisible upgrades to get from it 180-190 bhp! it is enough for me! I will put an advert in WANTED for 325 88-92 with aircon and lsd !

I have one M30 already , but in another car ... i am in a restoration process .. take a look :
mye9.tempolog.com
M30 it is a love from a first sight , but i am affraid from the swap and if i can make it like it should be made !
i dont have much of a information about the M30 swap , i will look around ! - i could buy a ready to install set of M30 , plug&play if i find somewhere , but who will sell this engine if he has the chance to drive it , i wouldnt ! [/img]

I was refering to you taking on that resto project
Mine runs with a 3.64 diff and imo its just right, engine is standard but its the later cat ready engine with 211bhp and the only upgrade is a k&n panel filter.
Heres the build thread
