i was getting around 300 miles on the smaller e30 tank with a mix of driving (thrashing
) think that works out to about 30-35mpg?

It will do over 40MPG but it will need mapping for it.ls1toughy wrote:what are all you 318is owners getting to the gallon most importantly on a run will it do 40+ taking it easy
thanks
The tank size is 47ltrs not 55.
I generally get around 400 miles from brim to empty, admittedly thats around 49 ltrs. OBC has been on 39.2mpg for weeks now, even with harder driving.

ok then, i dident run it completley out of fuel extend the pick up pipe and condence the vapor to get the last little bit out
on an average fill up it took about £45 (43l ish) to show full on the gauge and did about 300 miles before it was at the same point so about 30 mpg

I've seen 440monkey wrote:in that case it makes it 30ish mpg to 300miles . 400 on a tank is good going though

My maths is shite but i've just got back of my hols in the isle of wight, spent £55 on fuel and got just over 450 miles out of my 318IS, anyone care to work out the MPG on that one?? on average fuel was costing about 104

Still got just under a quarter of a tank left so i'm quite happy with that

My 318is has a chip that I bought to Ant. Using the extra torque, and sifting at low-ish revs, I can normally get 7.5 liters/100Km (some 37mpg). But, with extra care, and I wasn't among the slower cars on the road, I got 6.7 liters / 100 Km (some 45mpg).

Bit off topic but i had a little top speed run on the motorway on the way home and got an indicated 138mph but i dont think the old E30 speedo is very accurate TBH

Even if it were possible i dont think an speedo indicated 138 would be anywhere near that speed in real life

The 318is speedo seems to be a little inaccurate (too fast), but her other E30 speedos seem to be nearly spot on. I've had mine off the clock, but that was on the dyno with no load on it lol. Car has raised rev limit ;)

I can get upto 45mpg on good fuel on a run and 35 easy without driving like miss daisy.
Will go as low as 20-25 though when pushing on.
If I put shit fuel into it I'll barely get over 25 no matter how I drive though
As for top speed, I got about 145ish, probably a little more, maybe 150 in it but I decided enough was enough. Was using a 4.1 diff so I reckon 135ish is what it was really reading.
Friend of mine hit the rev-limiter with a 3.91 diff with a very good iS... typically the speedo wasn't working when he tried it

makes me less smug with my 53p/litre LPG when i'm getting 14mpg round town.
that said, it will do a round figure of 100 miles to a tenner out of town and my recond is a genuine accurate 38mpg from the uk to the nurburgring, on gas too! so an equivalent of about 70mpg, and from a M30 too!

I blame BMW and Alpina for making my car sound so brilliant when it's reved around 3-4k rpm.gareth wrote:makes me less smug with my 53p/litre LPG when i'm getting 14mpg round town.that said, it will do a round figure of 100 miles to a tenner out of town and my recond is a genuine accurate 38mpg from the uk to the nurburgring, on gas too! so an equivalent of about 70mpg, and from a M30 too!

But like Clarkson proved with the M3 and Prius on Top Gear , all down to how you drive them.

Interesting though with my mates one hitting the limiter in 5th with a 3.91!
Mine is re-mapped hence it can be so frugal on good fuel and as bad as an M20 on shit fuel

Mine is consistent at about 37mpg- I can push 40 mpg if I drive like a saint.
With the car full of equipment, and two kayaks on the roof on a high speed run to scotland it managed to average 32 mpg which I was pretty chuffed with!

Was chipped and re-mapped before I got it.johnmaloney88 wrote:where did u get the remap done dave? or do chips help?
The chips make a huge difference to them, a standard iS feels pathetic now after driving chipped ones

They seems a lot more reponsive when you kick the pedal to the floor at 4k rpm

I remember my old 320is only costing me 1p a mile more to run than my mrs 1.4 fiesta (loved knocking back her arguments over running costs)
Also I used to get 35mpg out of my 325i Auto (mix of stop go traffic and during the week and long drives on the weekends(200-300 mile 1/2 motorway 1/2 mountain)
the 2.7 Alpina is giving me about 20- 25 (dam my love for that acceleration
