Basicly i have a Tech 2 Sport on a H reg and i was thinking of putting in a mtech 1 bottom end and 6 branch manifold and a good camshaft and bigger throttle body....would this keep up with a 2.7? and also how much would it cost for bigger throttle bodys?

Thanks In Advance

If the 2.7 had you on the end of a tow rope you would be OK... :D

If you're doing anything with the bottom end it's got to be m52 crank and m20b20 rods to amke a 2.8L M20. That'd keep up with a 2.7 winkeye

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?

I think what he's getting at is the pre-facelift M20B25 had higher compression which was brought about by having different pistons.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

what pistons do you use for that then... 2.8 or standard 2.5.

and of cousrse what power gains are there..

Depends which "version". Anything from 180-210bhp.

The M20B28 uses 2.5 pistons. It's a stroker.

The 2.7s are strokers, the 2.8 is a longer stroker, but achieves a good compression ratio with some easily available standard bmw parts. Power should be around 200bhp for the 2.8L conversion with a chip to match.
