brought the 525isport back today and its a goodun, might keep it instead of breaking but got a niggle i cant sort
iv posted on bmw5 forums too but i know you lot are dam good and may be able to help
basicaly the odometer and everything else goes out, but with the key out the ignition and doors locked, the matrix backlight on the check panel under the dials stays on, and if you stay in the car, even with the doors locked you can push the right button and scroll through the warnings (currently brakelinings and coolant level)
completely stumped on this and any help would be appreciated

That is what it is supposed to do...It will stay on for a few minutes after turning off...
If you fix all the faults shown, then it will go out altgether

it was staying on for good lol but after having the car out in the sun all day with everything open, cleaning everything it goes out now, but it was flattening the battery enough after 3 days so it wouldnt start.if it comes back then apparently the 4 capacitors need replacing in the back...but for now its going out like you said
next problem, the remote for central locking/stereo fix
