I've been doing a lot of research on the 333i and have become really interested in it. I know there are 1 or 2 owners on this site, but anybody with pics of the 333i saved on their computer or something along those lines, post them up!

333i?Is this a model that was produced in the factory by BMW? If so I know absolutely nothing about it and would be keen to hear more. Must be rare beasties, in the UK at least...!

Produced only in SA, It's basically a B6 3.5, but Alpina used the 3.2 liter m30 from the 733i and Alpina claims there were 204 made. There's a lot more info, but search if you want more info, I want Pics!aj_mckay wrote:333i?Is this a model that was produced in the factory by BMW? I'm gonna stick my neck on the line and say I don't think it would have done that well over here. Certainly not as well as the 325 or even any of the other 'special' models like the Alpinas and Schnitzers etc. purely because of the engine size and associated fuel economy. People over here are proper anal with fuel economy.Alex wrote:wish they sold it worldwide, i recon it would have done well

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure if they released it as a limited edition or something, they'd have sold them all...!

Not back in the 80's though surely, and it was a special edition wasn't it. Not like a run of the mill 325. I reckon it would have done well too.aj_mckay wrote:I'm gonna stick my neck on the line and say I don't think it would have done that well over here. Took the words out of my mouth light blue for me.
Good to import as well - Right hand drive - I dont see fuel economy being a problem now as it would be a dry weekend car - All appear pre facelift so far - what do you reckon you would pay for one and would you take this or a left hooker M3

They sold 15,000 M3's, even in the book they're sub 20mpg!aj_mckay wrote:I'm gonna stick my neck on the line and say I don't think it would have done that well over here. Anyway when buying expensive brand new cars with the associated financial pit of doing so (VAT depreceation), the cost of 20mpg compared to 30mpg is largely irrelevant.

Trip Three is what they are known as in SA, very rare to find, I knew one which had 12 000km's on it, I was meant to buy one which had 100 000km's on it, there is nothing like a Trip , dog leg gearbox, really nose heavy and 16in alpinas were standard, you could choose Aircon or Power Steering never both.
The blue one is not original, the wheels are aftermarket and not ALpina's. It looks good in the pics. but in terms of originality it's not.
A Trip is easy to recreatye with the right bits, in terms of looks, the Mtec 1 kit was used.
