Will need to wire in a stereo for mu car soon and since mine has never had a stereo fitted its not got an aerial in the rear quater.

With this in mind i'd rather not drill a hole and instead was wondering if there is an aerial on the market i could mount inside the car?

Can a quck look on Google but not found much yet.

Cheers
Dave

Cool, might have a word with him then.

Personaly i'd not both with and electric aerial, looks so much better not having anything there at all. 8)

halfords do an internal aerial you stick to the glass. not sure how well they work though.

my e36 compact was fitted with an internal aerial from the factory which uses the rear heated screen elements, it's got the best radio reception of any car i've ever used, so internal aerials can work.
cheers,

I'm more than happy with the internal e36 antenna - I've owned two now and both have worked great. Would be a good retrofit to an E30 IMHO
E46 M3 CSL but dreaming of another E30.

if you decide to go external, c3 bmw still sell the m3 / touring aerial which mounts near the front of the roof.

much better looking and less 70s than a rear wing mounted extendable heap of crap, factory bmw parts still too.
cheers,

I'm thinking about doing this on my touring.
The best radio reception I ever had was in my Orions - they both had HRW aerials.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

I've used the amplified ariel's on the windscreen before(the cheap halfords type) and found them to better than the std tourer ariel's tbh.
Purchased it from my local car parts shop(NOT Halfrauds)

I had it mounted at the top of the screen(on the solid green tint section)right behind the mirror and it was less noticeable as well

This type of thing.

IMHO, that wouldn't be difficult - the touring/M3 aerial isn't one of BMW's better ideas. I binned mine and fitted a generic roof aerial in its place.
Dave.... Any idea if the aerial in the link you posted would be any good with DAB???

How easy would it be to fit an e36 internal aerial?

Right. I've scored the E36 aerial amp and cables - thanks to Lee (E30BeemerLad).
When my car comes back from the bodyshop, I'll attempt to get it fitted and connected to the analogue side of my headunit. Then I can use the roof aerial for DAB only which should mean I don't lose quality when using FM.

I'll report back when I have something to tell.

My E36 touring has an internal aerial, with what looks like an amplifier too. Great reception.
