Should start to really come together in a few weeks. Everything is coming out for the respray, so the finish should be top notch.

Wow, I never saw the bit about the seats! They came up ace eh? Very impressive and I'm sure there's many more on here that kit could do wonders for!
Really nice thread. Enjoying this one!

Glad this was caught at this stage - one of the bodyshops who quoted for the job said there was absolutely no need for the screens to come out!!

Early E30s were prone to the scuttle going underneath the rubber. Whereas the later cars seem to rot in the corners below screen level.
Nice work so far. can't wait to see the finished machine. Keep it std

You learn somethign new every day! Didn't realise that - very happy to have gone with the glass out respray option now, hasn't added too much onto the cost of the restoration in real terms either. Am collecting brand new screen rubbers tomorrow too, so they will hopefully help keep it rot free for a few years to come!hennabm wrote:Early E30s were prone to the scuttle going underneath the rubber. Its not going to be standard I'm afraid - I know that'll upset a few purists! Tec 1 kit and a dechrome is underway.

Just found this thread for the first time!
Good work, regardless of whether it's getting modified, it IS getting saved and that's what counts. i expect an unloving owner could have run it into the ground within a few years and another early rare car would have been lost.
keep us updated

If you don't mind me asking, what did you have to pay for the rear number plate surround? And what is involved in attaching it to the car?
The car is looking awesome by the way! Just an awesome paint job! Have you decided on a wheel choice yet?

The rear surround was very cheap - think it was about €30 from the dealers. Its held on with doublesided sticky pads!
Haven't decided on wheel choice yet - I have it narrowed down to 15inch BBS or 16 inch Alpinas if I stick with the 4 stud setup, or E30 M3 16 inch BBS or 16 inch E38 BBS wheels if I go 5 stud.

Looks like the work is coming to a conclusion - probably my favourite photo so far, even though the quality isn't great.

A few more up to date photos - I'll be popping over tomorrow morning with some extra trim bits so they can finish up. Quite excited about it now - my new wheels will be going on soon, will be coming off for a refurb at some stage though.
