Yo! The drivers seat on my E30 325 is starting to get pretty thread-bare. Can you still get the original seat upholstery? When I bought the car the chap I got it from had a replacement cover for the base of the drivers seat. I didn't manage to get it off him with the car, but it must be obtainable from somewhere. Any ideas?

Cheers,

Matt...

I have a MINT interior that I will be stripping out.

It's from a '90 320i. Its either black vinyl (most likely) or half leather - I can't tell and grey velour.

The reason its so mint is the last owner was a lady and obviously batted for the other side, the passangers seat is still very firm, I don't think the back seats have ever been sat on, and the drivers seat has no rips/tears and is still firm.

I'm hoping to order some buckets and subframes very shortly so if you like give me a pm, however I won't be in a hurry because the subframes usually take about a month to come...

I'll stick some photos up if you or anyone else is interested. I'm not sure what to do about the doorcards yet.

yes it can be obtained but i know not where from. my trimmer knew and got it from germany somewhere if i remember correctly. he's in hampshire though so it might not be very local for you. any good trimmers will be able to match it though.

if the material is worn the mechanism might well need work too - especially if it's a sport seat.

The materials got tatty cos I ripped it with the studs on the back of my jeans. Doh. It's frayed out since then. The mechanism is basically OK, and yes it is indeed a Sport. Damned nice seats, don't really want to ditch them on account of one bit of wear....

try FAB direct m8. They might have a complete interior instead.

They are on the web and they are near Gloucester

That just made me laugh - so what does a car look like that has been owned by someone that is in a female cricket club LOL?

BMW do sell the cover for the seat. They sell individual pieces, ie, base or back. It all depends upon the fabric. This is quite expensive. It would be wise to change both passenger and driver's seat at the same time to avoid differences seen in the seats.

When we say "quite expensive", how bad are we talking? Considerably less than a complete interior from the likes of FAB Direct I'm guessing?

Yeh, but they don't have any in stock. Plus it's a lot of money to sort out a dodgy bit of upholstery on one seat.
