VDO / MotoMeter

Could someone tell me what the differences are (if any) between the VDO and MotoMeter instrument clusters? Also, are the service indicator boards located within the same or different?

I think they are pretty much identical.

When I had problems with my Service lights, I got a new board from BMW and the replacement was a Motometer. This fitted and worked fine in my otherwise VDO cluster.

I think BMW just had two different Vendors make the same items.

Ian's correct mate, had to change the tacho on my VDO cluster and fitted a Moto-Meter unit.

Works just fine

Apart from the colour of some plastics, the two units are identical, and all bits inside can be swapped from one to the other.
