Plugs?
leads?
distributor cap?
rotor arm?
coil?
injectors?
air filter?
Valves?
Or how about just giving it a service

clean your idle valve first. Probably cheapest thing to do before you start wasting money on uneccesary parts.

Hi
I've had the same problem on same car.
Replace the blue temperature sender (Ԛ£19 from BMW) - 5 minute job and now the car is completely sorted!
If you need any more info - let me know

could be a leak in the air intake? check the hose from the AFM to the throttlebody for cracks etcalanj wrote:The car has just had a full service i have cleaned the idle control valve and it still ticks over lumpy..

Remove and thoroughly clean the throttle body as well (with carb cleaner)
A combination of that and the blue temp sensor made mine run like new

if any of the above methods of detection don't work, with the engine running spray some WD40 around the inlet manifold where it is bolted to the head. If the idle changes then you have an air leak on the inlet manifold gasket.
This happened to mine a few weeks ago. Has since been replaced and runs/ ticks over fine.
My car had lumpy idle and also was very jerky when on very small throttle openings at constant speed, such as crawling in traffic at 20mph, it was kangarooing.
Hope this helps
