Pretty sure they did Ian332isport's car. Ive heard good things about them, although some people I know say they are expensive, which probably means they are good and the people I know cant afford them  - but if you want a proper job, you have to pay your money.

Hi Neil,

Yes, Ray (West) did the remap on my car. I don't have the exact figures to hand, but it started with approx 285 bhp, and left with 318bhp. I was very happy with the work they did, but as James said above, it was not cheap (I don't remember how much  ).

Celtic tunning provide a very good service but may not be suitable for custom jobs. They did my 320d in the carpark of the building site that I was working on at the time. £375 a guy comes to you and in my case removed my ecu, put it on a jig, probed and downloaded my current map, emailed it to there office who customised it and emailed it back. It took about an hour after which you test drive your car and if not happy they revert to your old map and dont charge. I felt the diffrence straight away and later took the car to interpro for a dyno run. 178bhp and 260ftlb from a 2L diesel! standard is 150. The guys at interpro were very impressed and admitted that it was better than they could do but were even more impressed that it did not smoke.
Interpro (thornbury nr. bristol) might be better for a s50 as they could live map it on the dyno. They do a lot of work on race and rally cars. I take it you have other significant mods to make a remap worth it? I have a s50b30 m3 with a nice sealed induction kit and would consider a remap along with a free flowing exhaust but would like to see what gains you get from it as its a lot of money. I'm not sure that the gains are worth the cost on a NA car.

The M3 tends to run rich when standard at WOT, doing mods to the exhaust and intake can make things worse. But to make the mods worthwhile, you will need a remap. Generic mapping is ok, but doesn't necessarily fully optimise what you have. Usually part throttle isn't really touched, only tweaked. Just leaning out the fueling at WOT gives more power.

True live steady state mapping will ensure your car is fully optimised, but you have to be carefull of temperatures, etc. There is live mapping and live mapping, be carefull what you are paying for!

Hi,

Go see Sheps, have it mapped properly
on the Dyno, and then go drive it hard
for a week on 97 Ron [Super] fuel.

Do not get sucked into the '' this company
can get 'x' BHP out of S50 merry go round''.

Regards,

The Gorilla.
