Hi
I've had 2 e30 325i saloon's before, a few years ago now, but remember them as going a fair bit better than the 325i touring I've just purchased.
The touring does abour 51 mph in 2nd gear, and 80 mph in 3rd, whereas from memory my old saloons used to pull about 56mph in 2nd and 90 in 3rd.
Also the car seems to be at higher revs in gear than my old saloons, for example in 5th gear the car does 2000rpm at 50 mph, at 3000 rpm it does 70mph and at 4000 rpm it does 90mph does this sound about right? :roll:
3000 rpm at 70 in 5th seems high, I can't remember but for a 2.5 lump I would have thought it would be just ticking over at 70mph in 5th at maybe 2000-2500 rpm?
Any comments from 325 owners would be appreciated.
Cheers
k

my 325i 4dr SE saloon is geared:

in 5th...
4000rpm=98mph
3000rpm=76mph

in 4th...
4000rpm=80mph
3000rpm=62mph

all indicated speeds/revs

I dunno what ratio diff is fitted, but it is slightly taller overall gearing than my M3 which needs an extra 300revs or so to hit 100mph in 5th
